1975 Jaguar XJ Coupe 6.0 V12
Discussion
New interior panels starting to take shape. There will be no glovebox and the ski slope will be all one piece and follow the contour of the console. Next job is to cut all the holes for new vents, gauges, warning lights, switches, shifter, two cup holders and large central screen and then they can go off to be hydrodipped in piano black
Dashboard almost done and ready for veneering in piano black. Just need to cut the aperature for the Sat Nav. Steering wheel will be replaced with the one shown with a Jaguar leaper centre cap.
Wheels are here and chrome is done so will soon look complete from the outside.
Rewiring to modern standards continues then when the dash panels come back and all the fittings refitted it will be off for trimming and then we are done. Hopefully August

Can't wait to see this finished. Still my favourite project on the board. Keep up the good work.
At last you and I can agree on something!A restoration and sympathetic modernisation of one of the best looking classics available. What's not to like? I'd love to be able to do something like this, but my skills, and my budget would probably limit me to a Lada Riva, if I'm honest. I still love seeing this thread come up in "My Stuff" though, because there's a good chance there'll be pictures on which my eyes can feast...

Looking forward to seeing the new wheels
They are on the previous page but i wasnt happy with the obsidian black paint finish so they have been redone and should be booted up and ready to be on next week. Obviously the ride height wont look right though because it doesnt have an interior in it yet.craigjm said:

Any updates?
Standing around waiting for all the dash panels to come back from the hydro dippers and then it’s off for trimming and rest of the audio fit. Hopefully some pics in a couple of weeks with it all done just waiting for the trimmer. Will come together quite quickly to that point because once the dash panels are in then all the wiring can be finished. Getting there!

Whoops!
Any reason for sticking with a 4-speed auto? There's a company in the US called TCI do a 6-speed derivative of the Turbo-Hydramatic (based on its final version, the 4L80E)... perhaps pricey, but when you're completely modernising everything else, I suspect the 700R4 is going to feel a bit old and vague...

Didn’t want to get involved with ECU control basically. The original box is a GM400 three speed. The engine is a TWR 6.0 not a late Ford distributorless engine. Makes More power. The gearbox is fine just needed another gear for a lower rpm cruise. It will do 2100rpm at 80 now which is fine. Any reason for sticking with a 4-speed auto? Just seen that the Retropower car is now up for sale. For a very big price!!

Now if you’ve followed the project as I have you know it’s basically a new car, serious time, money and skill have gone into creating it.
But I always thought it was being built for a very exacting customer, now it’s complete it’s for sale!
Very odd, but it’ll purchase number one for me should my numbers come in.

The rear seat looks wrong, as does the "thing" on the dashboardhttps://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
