That’s kind of my point. The Bluetooth thing on the dash and the speaker/stereo install was all very personal taste by the person who commissioned it. Then just sells it? Of course they may have had a change in circumstances which can’t be avoided, one shouldn’t really judge.

It was built for a customer and to his spec and the price advertised is what he paid for it in total as a build. At the time he was attempting to set up a bespoke build car company with the plan to outsource the work to others and that was to be his demo show car kind of thing

Just seen that the Retropower car is now up for sale. For a very big price!!

Now if you’ve followed the project as I have you know it’s basically a new car, serious time, money and skill have gone into creating it.

But I always thought it was being built for a very exacting customer, now it’s complete it’s for sale!

Very odd, but it’ll purchase number one for me should my numbers come in.

Far too much money for an xjc!

Well be that as it may it’s what he paid for it. I’m just surprised he is selling it after only 400 miles because it was supposed to replace his M5 as his daily. Also the way that back seat has ruffled is awful

Yep that rear seat leather isn’t good. Especially for the price paid :s

Even self bulding a car usually costs far more than it will sell for. It would be interesting to see what it does eventually go for; my guess is less than £40,000.
I have however, been wrong about such things. cool

Very much so. I’m certainly not intending getting back what I’m spending. My build will be about 70-75k when finished and won’t be to everyone’s taste. This is fine as I don’t intend to sell.

I am really surprised that the owner of this Retropower car has sold so quickly. I know him well so I will ask him.

What holds back the price on the Retropower car is the LS3 engine. I’ve never seen a crate engined Jaguar sell that well in the UK

I think you've hit the nail on the head there.

Didn’t the shell start out as a Daimler version? But I imagine there is no history with it hence the LS3 engine swap. Body wise the car looks fantastic. Front grill doesn’t match the look in my opinion but an easy change. The devices built into the dash look out of place next to a ww2 plane start button. Personally i think it should have been ultra modern or left original with a walnut dash matching the brown leather seats, perhaps a neat aftermarket head unit fitted to access the sound system.
We all know it’s nearly impossible to restore/modify and sell at a profit. For his asking price maybe the car should have started as a project e-type?

It did and the donor car was a Jaguar. The car was bought without an engine as the LS3 was the idea right from the start.

Its just waiting for the trimmer to take it in over the autumn / winter. Obviously missed my original slot! the aim is on the road for spring. No point before then with the salt and stuff.

Back on it now so the interior is being wired up and all the audio, new switches and electronics fitted this next few weeks then off to the leather trimmers. Dashboard panels are back after the piano black hydrodip
