1975 Jaguar XJ Coupe 6.0 V12

Thought it would.
But before you do, the frameless doors only have a rubber trim to push against to stop water getting in and they are ste. If you cut the gutters off then those rubber seals have got to stop the roof water too. Obviously it's your motor. The rear quarter windows have a slightly better seal but again water will just find a gap and then gradually fill the inner sills after all the hard work to put right the rust between the bottom of the rear quarter panel and the style line that flanges to meet the outer sill.

I'm not gonna cut the gutters off one looked closely before and without them there would be serious leak issues
I thought of another mod, a late xjs rear axle with outboard disc brakes. craigjm said:

I thought of another mod, a late xjs rear axle with outboard disc brakes. There is a late xjs complete rear axle on eBay at the mo. Do you still have the 4.2 rear diff ratio or has that been changed? There are jaguar power lock diffs that can also be fitted but it's getting the correct diff ratio

Don't do the XJS axle conversion, you gain unsprung weight and lose ride quality...
That is a considerationIt would be a good conversion with regards to maintainance on the rear brakes.
I'm sure others like me are big fans of Miles Classic, their XJCs are gorgeous. Can't help noticing they have no stock now though, haven't had for a while.
Trouble getting hold of donor cars at sensible prices maybe?

Myles isn't doing anything for stock anymore. He will now source you a car and then sell you a patina, restoration or restomod package. I think his patina and restored options are good (Callum's car for instance) but his restomods are not forward thinking enough for me Trouble getting hold of donor cars at sensible prices maybe?

Surely he'd do the mods you wanted?
Well yes but when I spoke to him I expected his ideas to be inspiring me. I told him I wanted to create a car that looked like an XJC reimagined for the 21st century spec wise and to look like an XJC-R had they had ability to make such a thing. His response was quite muted whereas Keith at XJ was enthusiastic and like what about this? And I think this would work what do you think? Etc craigjm said:

Etc The XJ's are very expensive to work on to get right though. I don't want to think about the amount I am spending but the way I justify it is if I buy say a new XF for 50k in 3 years time it will be worth 24k max. Spend the same money making the XJC what you want and in three years time it would be worth 24k too so the man maths kind of says it works if that makes sense.

I'm all for restoration on our classic cars in what ever spec but it annoys me that because certain brands are deemed expensive then someone tries to take what my car is worth via the restoration leaving me with a depreciating car again. Does that make sense?Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
