Looks absolutely cracking, definitely get the badges back on too!

FWIW I think that's the cooling fan resistor rather than headlight. smile

Thanks Krikkit - I shall have a look.

Both cooling fan and light wiring could have got caught somewhere whilst being pushed around, so I'll check both.

Do you know where it sits?

Managed to track down some driving lights. One was posted and is waiting at the post office as I was out picking up the other one, when it was delivered.

Couldn't resist a quick pic:

I wont deny it, I am a bit of a Peugeot man, I remember these coming out back in the early 90's, a couple of the boys at work had them, one in red and one in grey, quick with its 100bhp and handled bloody well biggrin
I keep trying to find one that's good but they are that rare now its almost impossible frown

You have done wonders with this one, hope you enjoy her for what she is biggrin

Hi Dom,

Congratulations, the car is looking great.

I am about to sell my Rallye, with a view to joining your V6 club.

What's next for the XSi?

Hi Thomas - Many thanks, I am very happy with it.

Having said that; we're currently in Oslo and I had to leave the car covered in dust from construction work my neighbours are doing.

The poor car frown My poor paint!!

Would be great if you joined the 'V6 Club' but I'd be tempted to try and keep the Rallye as it will be a relatively small dent in a nice V6.

I think I'll finish some of the lights, badges etc on the XSi so it 'looks finished' but the engine needs to come out next - joy!

I joined the V6 club!

The Rallye has just passed it's MOT with no advisories and I am having a bodyshop do a few small jobs and fit new decals, before I sell the car. I suspect when it's back and cleaned up, I'll be tempted to keep it.

Where are you based Dom?

Thomas

Hi Thomas - I'm pleased to hear you joined the V6 club!

I looked at a Mk.2 in silver when I was looking - my favourite colour for the Mk.2!

Progress here has been slow - The neighbours have been doing their drive and covered the XSi in brick dust and alike so I had to go and buy some new hose attachments, yesterday. It needs a good clean and then back to getting some jobs done!

I am in Oxshott, Surrey - not a million miles from where you bought your car from. Where are you based?

I need to get the next Surrey meet organised, you should come along: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Looks fantastic Dom... so good to see another XSI given some love... smilesmilesmile

I'm very torn regarding the bumper/moulding inserts.. the red looks nice... but i still kinda like black...

I've been pressing on with mine.. it may even be mapped this year..

Stunning, Lowly!

Would love to hear your thoughts on the suspension smile

Could/ would it work on the road with lower spring rates/ damping do you think?

I always have the 'ultimate' 106 spec being built in my head biggrin

On the rear, most definitely.. the damper actually operates in a 1:1 ratio to the wheel so you dont have to run a super stiff damper on there....

On the front, i dont think the benefits are quite as big .. unless of course youre lowering it a lot, in which case you can use the satchell struts to dial out the bumpsteer that comes with the std setup...

Here are the homologation papers for the XSI:

http://historicdb.fia.com/sites/default/files/car_...

It was mainly done for engine capacity reasons. The lowest class was raised from sub 1300 to 1400; and had previously been dominated by the 205 Rallye.

Awesome build thread mate! I currently own an XSI too! brilliant wee cars. I recently broke one and have a few spares kicking about too. Parts for them seem to be getting quite difficult to find. Here's a photo of mine. Keep up the good work!

Thanks mate! Its a 1.6 8v. Relatively standard apart from a 4 branch, full Pugsport system, Rallye steels with Yokohama rubber. Used to be a vw guy back in the day but always had a soft spot for these. Managed to pick it up a few years ago (in a sorry state) for £600.
Needed new bushes, brakes, callipers.... all little things that made it drive horribly.
Now everytime I take it out for a spin, theres always someone wanting to buy it. I wouldn't mind getting mine in to the paint shop too as its a bit rough around the edges. Still doesnt look too bad for a 22 year old motor! I did think about chucking in a valve but decided to keep it the way it was meant to be.

I have a lot more photos and videos on my instagram page. Follow : Stolenjak
