1992 Peugeot 106 XSi - Strip, Respray, Rebuild OEM+

Will do! I have many happy memories driving this car and was sad seeing it just sitting there in the garage. I thought let's breath new life into her and get her on the road again.
Other than backing her out and driving up and down the driveway a few times a year over the years, she has been nowhere. So my project started back in March.
Jobs done
New battery. She starts just fine! Then there was a strange noise coming from the timing area which turned out to be a seized belt tensioner which I replaced along with a new belt. Could not get the water pump off for love nor money so if it isn't broken it don't need fixing.
Changed oil and filter
Flushed coolant system
New thermostat
New steering rack end boot
A few bodywork repairs and touch ups
Black jacked underneath
Refurbished alloys
Bled rear brakes. Screws opened ok.
Bleeding front brakes but got a snapped osf bleed screw in the caliper so now need to get the thing out. New front bleed screws on their way!
So that's where I'm at. Finish off the brakes and time for MOT. Fingers crossed she passes then once again behind the wheel of my pug.

I need to get some momentum back up on this! Been an odd summer, then Missus birthday, holiday, etc, etc.
There was a low miles (34k?) Cossack grey car on eBay a week or so ago and sold for £5,600-ish, off the top of my head.
Looked like it needed some panel work (maybe a door, from recollection) and paint. Not cheap but would make a lovely thing.

I saw that one and was surprised to see it go for that - Clearly the prices of 106s are moving up quite quickly, Demonstrated by that one and the S2 rallye that was for sale at the same time which reached 5.5k before being pulled.....and that was needing a bit of work too. There was a low miles (34k?) I guess there is a fair number of 40 something's that fancy a 106 to relive their youth in at the moment...... That and affairs are harder to have nowadays due to social distancing means prices are on the up!
A yoof (20) approached me in the petrol station the other day (I swear my rallye does about 15mpg) and said...
"your car is fking sick mate, Rare, Proper rare mate"
I was absolutely amazed he knew what it was - my faith was partially reassured in the younger generation.
And yesterday I saw a tidy and very low saxo vtr/s going very quickly through a local village complete with 3" saxsport whilst being gesticulated at by a pedestrian........ It was like 1999 all over again.
Get on it Dom - is it under cover or kept outside?
