That’s the one! They built three EX vehicles, but 16 was the best-looking. It currently resides in the Blackhawk collection in California where they ruined (IMO) its appearance by chroming the wire wheels.

Looks like the Handlye Special is making an appearance at the Brighton Speed Trials this weekend!

Will have to go and say hello as I haven't seen the creator of this beast since I was at school with his daughter!

haven't posted for a while, so here's a pic of current status. I got the exhaust back from coating so installed that, complete with cut-outs. All plumbing is now compete, and I'm currently amassing parts of the electrical system - got some cloth-wrapped wires, vintage switches, engine-turned stainless dash inserrt, and I'm just figuring our some details on the gauges before ordering them.

I painted the frame with a black ceramic coating, was a bh to apply but looks good. I've already begun fabricating the body substructure in readiness for skinning it with 18ga. I hope that I'll be chugging around the neighbourhood with the bare chassis by the end of this year, fingers crossed....

That looks utterly fantastic!

Can i ask please, how long did it take to polish up the cam covers? Mine are rough-cast underneath the military paint!
Also, I've never seen them with the vertical RR badge on them before, how did you mount that? Lacking the plinth of thickened casting in the middle of mine, i unfortunately probably can't have them engraved with the traditional red script so this would be the next best thing!

Valve cover polishing was easy - I just dropped them off at the chrome shop and they did all the hard work. I found a smooth cover to replace the ugly one with the plinth on top, but it broke my heart having to grind off the ‘mustang’ logo cast into it. The RR badges came from EBay and I just epoxied them onto the valve covers. Fitted the radiator shroud I fab’d Up today, had it powder coated to match the exhaust colour

And mid-engined, too!
That must be pretty close to 50:50 weight distribution, with fluids.

Engine plumbing now completed. In order to be able to drive the chassis around I obviously need the electrical system up and running, so I'm building enough bodywork to support the dashboard. I'll also be able to hang the steering off this section too. I was hoping to crank 'er up by year-end, but life has got in the way so it's probably going to be mid-January, can't wait!
