Doesn't look like a malicious keying to me. More likely some dappy woman with a handbag.

I did wonder but it can only have happened out the back of my house between Sunday and Thursday, it didn't move in this time. There is no reason for anyone to go near it except the feral kids who live out the back. I'm still annoyed 24hrs later.

Car is booked in for the 26th to have the scratch repaired along with a mop to take some of the other marks out. It's also due a service this month so it's going to be an expensive one. It's practical and fun tho

I do circa 4k per year and cycle to work. I cannot justify another car for that. It's fun enough for me.

Fair enough. They certainly are great solid and comfy cars with some real pace but not exactly thrilling in the bends. So surefooted, I don't think I've ever managed to break traction (understeer or oversteer) in mine even when I really try.

Whenever I look whats out there to replace it with as a daily I struggle to find anything with such good performance stats and solid build quality. They are real bargain performance cars.

Depends what you call fun. I like the insane level of grip it provides, it feels incredible in advance mode on a nice twisty bit. It's far more impressive than it has any right to be. I don't want it to break traction, it's too big and I'd be going too fast to recover.

Thats what I mean. You'd either have to have terrible tyres or be going far too fast to break traction.

Like I said though, solid, comfy performance bargains. Hard to find anything that compares for the price.

12th service carried out on the car this weekend at 157k to keep the fsh. New oil, plugs, filters and brake fluid change.

Still very happy with the car and it's ability to be a sensible family wagon taking the dogs out and stuff to the dump yet good fun with the ability to get me in serious trouble when I'm on my own.

Despite the bodywork being a bit shabby the keyed door was really getting me down so I chucked it into a local paint shop to have it rectified. He also gave it a "mop" to remove some of the light scratches.

Fairly happy with the results, although the picture doesn't do the job justice, my green shed makes the door look a different colour. I managed to find some time over the weekend to give it a coat of polish ready for winter.

Not a huge amount more to report. It has developed a bit of hunting at cold idle when not used for a few days and the trackrod ends need replacing so I might give that a go myself sometime soon.

Its almost 6 months since I purchased the V70R and I'm still very happy with the car. Can't see me selling it anytime soon.

Gotta love a five-pot dad wagon smile

I have its 2nd cousin once-removed...

Owned it three months now and it's great. Down on power and only two-wheel drive compared to the Volvo, but it does have a stainless exhaust and sounds rather naughty biggrin.
When I was looking for a car I did consider the big Swede, but there were no decent V70Rs around, especially with a manual gearbox (auto was a deal-breaker for me). Also the stories of almost inevitable (if you believe the internet) big bills put me off.

Glad you're enjoying yours. It seems the days of interesting engines in 'normal' cars are sadly over frown

Funnily enough I was only talking about them the other day. Looks lovely. Readers thread?

You are right I fear, although I do fancy a V60 Polestar sometime which still fits this category.

I'll do a Reader's Car thread soon. Just not got round to it yet. Those wheels are 20", but made the ride too harsh, especially as it has had the Eibach lowered suspension kit. I've swapped them for a set of 18" Team Dynamic Imolas, which are much better.

I'm also a big fan of the Polestar. It's a shame they've discontinued the six cylinder engine in that too now, though.

Little to report in V70R land. Car just passed 158k and has had a new rear wiper and a new rear numberplate bulb. Its exciting stuff, so here is a nice picture I took at -5 the other morning.

Still very happy with the car and currently trying to get it dirty for the Winter 16/17 thread.

If I'd had my time again I'd have picked something else, hindsight etc. A great car when its working but this could get expensive.

I'd be very surprised if headgasket. Much more likely to be cracked block. Are you running standard power or is it fettled?

I really fancied the R model a few years ago but kept ready horror stories about the blocks cracking. the 2.4T5 seemed to be the better choice but then you lost the AWD. would still have one though ( with standard boost frown )

Yep it does seem that a cracked block is more likely. Mine has a Rica remap. Unsure about how to repair the block if so, sourcing another one would be a real headache.

Remaps seem to cause an issue, but its not unheard of for standard ones to fail. You can shim the block but I'd expect its a bit late now.
