Never fancied doing Lands end to John O Groats in this?
Surely you must think you'd have a shot? I Certainly do.
Great read.
No pics of it at full wading depth?
It has the daytime and night time Monaco to Calais records...... and they were done a long time ago when it was more socially acceptable to do that sort of thing. Trying similar in the UK would just be silly, there's a risk/reward ratio to everything and that's one that just doesn't stack up. I've every confidence it would most certainly be in with a shot, especially as there is room in the nose to go to a 60L cell if needs be but I've no desire to prove it Surely you must think you'd have a shot? I Certainly do.

It floods quite often around where I live so the wading capability has been well proven, I've never stopped to take a pic though

For reference on a narrow body car 11" rears with a 295 is the practical limit and honestly you don't need more tyre than this on them!
That's the width rim and tyre I'm running. It's a good look on the car and you can still break traction with the rear ATM said:

Ah ok, heavy right foot helps. Take corners like a hot curry, slow in and fast out
Clearly I'm more korma than madras. I've tried but mine just grips and grinds. What tyres are you on?ATM said:

Mine too on 265 Kumho Ecstas, endless grip. Have explored the limits off the road, but not something I'd be comfortable doing on road.My old 350z would go sideways dead easy in comparison, in fact it was hard not to.

Or maybe I need to give it some beans, my remapped Mini Cooper S is always breaking traction with it laughable torque steer
You’ll not unstick the rear in the dry with power alone (other than dumping the clutch in 1st with some lock on)... not enough power to overcome the grip, even on a 265.
So you need to use momentum and weight transfer.
You need to fully load the car up latterly entry/mid corner, lift, then as the weight shifts forward, the front tucks in and the rear goes light, get back on the gas hard... even then you won’t really get much more than a neutral slide... no big opposite lock stuff.
Or you need to ‘give a bung’ on the way in (like s Scandinavian flick) - to use the weight of the engine to unsettle the rear. This is pretty risky as you’ll either understeer or spin if you get the entry speed/weight transfer wrong. Not really recommended to try on public roads!!

Or go have a play on the Low Friction circuit at PEC Silverstone, and learn to do the "W" section without ever touching the brakes. So you need to use momentum and weight transfer.

A slight QOL upgrade performed today. The 20 year old knacker now has Carplay/Android Auto support:
Really do like how this has come together as it's meant I can bin off the old external GPS antenna and Sony/TomTom navigation unit. To be fair that combo was about ten years old and things have moved on significantly but still it's 200 grams saved
I've also junked the old double din conversion which was a bit tape and hope (but that was all there was at the time) and replaced it with a Metra kit, it's a really nice properly engineered solution that positively retains the head unit into the dash unlike the old Connects2 kit. I strongly recommend it should anyone wish to go double din in their 996 or 986.

Hi PPBB
Have you seen this firm http://vonnen.com/ ?
They retro fit KERS to 911s. Replaces traditional flywheel with a slimline electric motor that houses the flywheel
Did you make progress with your KERS idea??
