Life with an XJ220

Parts aside, I'm sure a competent exotic specialist could handle it.
Think you're probably right there. It's 30 years old after all.
I have limited knowledge on 220's, but I think the not so regular items would be fuel bags due replacement, which may be a 5 or so year thing would be a little different but there are a lot of very good, and very knowledgeable, specialists all around the world.
What is the approach with the basically unsupportable Zytek engine management system now? Does Don Law now replace it with an aftermarket system?
It is one of the things that I believe keeps the value of the XJR-S down, as if any part of the engine management system or certain bits of the ignition system fail you're screwed. I know a chap who has managed to get a laptop working with the 1992 era software, but even that can't be counted on forever.
Also used in various Rolls Royce/Bentleys and at the very least the I6 DB7 I believe.

Just read the whole thread. Put simply, WOW. Seen these at goodwood and I think other shows aswell, never in the wild though. Would love to see how it's doing now and also that incredible xjr 15.
Lovely to hear that Phil is the owner of C+M, went I think summer 2018 and it was brilliant. Imagine it's only got better. Proper petrol head mecca.

I wonder if the old software can just be run on a virtual machine, on any computer you like. I've done this with plenty of old software in the past, once I've gotten my hands on a working machine/copy of the software. After you manage that, the next issue might be whatever you connect to the car with I suppose! It is one of the things that I believe keeps the value of the XJR-S down, as if any part of the engine management system or certain bits of the ignition system fail you're screwed. It's probably possible to run the software, but quite often these old systems just squirted data out the serial port in a hit-and-hope fashion, the kind of thing that doesn't often work well with an abstracted USB conversion layer or two in there somewhere.Hi there,
I think some linked to these images earlier in the thread but as they were hosted by Photobucket they perhaps aren't visible anymore. I have recently updated my website so they are now on there in all their glory.
I love XJ220's so seeing them all at Silverstone was a true honour

Great pics. On the Saturday morning of the classic, the transit undertook me at a massive rate of knots in order to catch up with two 220’s that were some way ahead. Apart from the massive Centre lock wheels, you’d never know.

The XJ220 was my poster car, and it's only just occurred to me that I don't think I've ever seen one in real life.
I've been to loads of motorsport events, car shows and museums over the years but have somehow managed to miss my favourite car. What a travesty!

Correct that is a travesty. You'll love it.
If you are passing head to the Jaguar Heritage Trust section of the British Motor Museum in Gaydon,Warks. They have a road car and also the original motorshow car (longer body, V12 etc) on display.
My pics are here :-
