Back in a Honda, EP3 Civic Type R

My EP3 is now sat at a car dealership looking for a new home and I’ve purchased a FK2 Civic Type R to replace it. It was a sad day saying goodbye to the Civic it’s treated me exceptionally well over the last couple of years or so, it was superb fun on track and the many B road hoons around North Wales and the Peak District.

I only have the one photo of the new car and I stole that from the previous owner who’s now moved onto the latest Type R, I collect on Friday and will start a thread for the new car after I’ve got some better photographs.



It’s first track outing will be on the 17th July at Oulton Park.

Cheers, yes the ep3 went to Revitup as a complete car, I was considering returning to standard but I would of needed parts in exchange and I couldn’t be bothered with the agro. Got a fair price for it and sold the brembo’s on to recoup a little.

I hated the fk2 on release but after seeing them on the road and in the flesh they have grown on me. The new ones definitely made this generation more appealing in looks, still it’s no shrinking violet.

You still considering another ep3?

Yep, still thinking about buying another one.. however the amount of 'burns a bit of oil' or 'gearbox has a slight crunch' or 'arches have some corrosion' cars advertised seems to be much greater than I remember. But I suppose they are fairly old cars now, so only inevitable.

Really quite difficult to find a straight one that’s not got issues somewhere, mine drove great but had some rust on the rear arches.

I knew it was Tegiwa’s, no issue to me at least I know exactly what’s been done in the car, most people don’t have that luxury. Messaged Johnny the other night, he’s left me some carbon goodies on before handing it back to Holdcroft Honda. It’s barely run in with 2,000 miles on the clock.

It drives absolutely spot on, I’d be surprised if any of these have had an easy life to be honest, nature of the beast. Honda don’t recommend a running in period with this engine so I’m not concerned about the 20 minutes it had at Rockingham, slightly concerned about how quickly it ruined the Continental CS6’s but I will be switching to AD08’s.

Johnny’s said that it’s totally standard performance wise and it feels it to be honest, the only thing left are the carbon engine bay covers, wing mirrors etc.

How are you getting on with the M3 you had off Matt? Sure I saw him share that it’s for sale.

It definitely seems that way, the lad who’s now got the car knows about the issue but seems happy enough with the car, a friend who also owns one had a good look over the car at a local meet and he found numerous bits of trim missing too.

Certainly happy I pulled out.

Always happens like that, decided what you’re going to replace it with? I’ve got a massive soft spot for the e46 but after test driving a cab a few years ago it wasn’t the sharp drivers car I was expecting, probably need a go in a manual coupe before writing them off. The styling is absolutely on point though, gorgeous cars to look at.
