My EP3 is SORN at the moment. Getting it MOT'd and serviced then moving it along to someone else as i now have a company car....
Oh im going to cry when it gets driven off, i've had the thing almost 11 years
The photos make me miss it, looks great and ive not even started mine up for 4-5 months Poor thing is just tucked up in a garage.... i know if i could i'd keep it for 20 years but that wont do the car any good!
Its a Honda, could probably leave it 50 years and it'll be fine!Oh im going to cry when it gets driven off, i've had the thing almost 11 years

I would keep it.

Over some welsh b roads at the weekend the ep3's were holding their own against the fk2's which is a testament to how capable they are, mine never felt outgunned at sensible speeds.
I drive an EP3 with a very similar spec to yours, and can’t make up my mind how to feel about this comment. Tempted to say that I’m not surprised, but I kinda *am* a bit surprised!TheJimi said:

Tempted to say that I’m not surprised, but I kinda *am* a bit surprised! It's a tough one Martin, I'd keep the Type R if you are are having doubts. I've had mine for 11 1/2 years (5 months old when I bought it) and still love it. Bought a Focus RS earlier this year as a replacement but can't bring myself to sell the Type R even although I don't really need it now. It's still so much fun to drive and cheap to run that I've no intention of selling it.
I would keep hold of it if you can Martin, I can't see another car of this kind being sold again in the future. It's hard to justify keeping something though when it's not being used, looking at the market I think values are slowly starting to creep up so keeping it might not be a bad idea.
It was an interesting drive with the FK's, I wouldn't take anything conclusive from it but a modified ep3 will certainly keep them honest at sensible speeds on the road at least. Past 100mph I would imagine the newer car would make it's extra grunt and stability known but that's not really feasible without a track. It would be great to see a road and track test with some times but I can't see that ever happening.
What power to weight is yours Butterface? I'm not surprised he couldn't shake you.

HPI reckons the kerbweight on my EP3 is 1204kg. So just the car is 265ish bhp/ton compared to the standard car @ 163ish if you work off those figures.
An FK2 is 1397kg according to HPI so about 219 bhp/ton.
The FK2 has much better traction than mine though, I need a diff desperately, spinning up the road in 2nd and 3rd....

It was the big day yesterday, Meister dampers, clockwise motion baffled sump, full set up and Mot. It was rather a long day but the results were well worth it and Grinspeed were excellent, I know it's been said on many previous occasions and it's becoming a cliche but they worked tirelessly throughout the heat were incredibly thorough, never seen mechanics clean so often, fantastic service. ??
I knew I was in safe hands when they took one look at the car and said "it's too low", it's rubbed occasionally since I've had it and the shocks were past their best, so we agreed to raise it 10-15mm, it was also running far too much camber on the front so this was addressed during the set up.
I've been one of the biggest sceptics of using adjustable coilovers on a road/occasionally track car but first impressions are positive, it's set at about the half way point in terms of adjustment and it certainly feels a touch stiffer but the damping is far superior so the ride quality is actually better than the eibach springs on stock shocks. Turn in as improved despite running less camber and it's added some feel through the steering which is a massive benefit in the EP3, it's early days but I'm massively impressed.
The baffled sump went in without issue, Steve did notice some paint from the rocker cover in the sump on removal so something to keep an eye on but at least it wasn't in the pick up feed.
I will report back on the Meisters in a few weeks when I've lived with them for a bit.
Some photo's.
I had Steve set my Forester STI up. Like a totally different car now. He has a great set-up there and quality of work is brilliant.I knew I was in safe hands when they took one look at the car and said "it's too low", it's rubbed occasionally since I've had it and the shocks were past their best, so we agreed to raise it 10-15mm, it was also running far too much camber on the front so this was addressed during the set up.

Is that in the dry? i would have thought with the supercharger traction would be alot better than the turbo cars with their spikey torque curves. An FK2 is 1397kg according to HPI so about 219 bhp/ton.

Here's my thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... (sorry for the hijack)
My car has a rotrex rather than a JR which spools up very much like a turbo does.

Mine still struggles in the wet in second, the diff really helps with getting the power down when the wheels aren't facing straight ahead though, it will make a massive difference to yours with the power you're running. An FK2 is 1397kg according to HPI so about 219 bhp/ton.

I'm booked in for my first track day on the 9th February at Oulton Park, I really should of had a few days under my belt by now but something always pops up that stops me from booking. I moved house back in November and while the house offered all of the space that we will ever need something just wasn't working with it, so I broke out the sledgehammer and ripped out most of what was a nice downstairs, lots of swearing commenced, sleepless nights, hard work and plenty of beer downed, in fact the whole project was powered by Stella. We now have a family home that we desperately needed after living in a rather small semi for the four years previous. It's great to see my two boys using the space how I'd hoped and even better that I know longer step on Lego every time I walk through the living room (it's not quite as bad as a plug socket but it still blinking hurts). Long story short I've decided to treat myself while my wife is feeling generous.
I need a few things sorting to get the car ready, namely some new pads and a couple of Ad08's. Looking at Project Mu HC800's which seem really well regarded and looking to pick up a helmet at the Autosport show this weekend. Hopefully it will be the fist of many, if anyone has any pointers or can think of anything that I may not have thought of I'm all ears but my list of things to take is rather small.
Helmet
Gaffer tape
Cable ties
Tyre pressure reader
Oil
Water.
Cheers.

I picked up some PBS pads and rbf600 brake fluid this morning from Tegiwa and had a couple of AD08r's delivered. I just need to sort some tow straps out and it should be ready for it's first track outing.
Got the PBS pads in mine - absolutely BRILLIANT pad! Had the motul fluid too but have since switched to ATE Typ 200

In seriousness, cracking example of an EP3 done well here. Well done OP!
Looking forward to hearing how it goes on the track.
Cheers Jimi, have you decided what you're moving onto? I've got a go pro so hoping to get some reasonable footage, I promise to post it even if I'm useless and put it in the armco. In seriousness, cracking example of an EP3 done well here. Well done OP!

They are highly rated by everyone who uses them which swayed me towards them, they don't feel massively different to the ds2500's on the road, I'm sure the higher operating temperatures will keep me smiling for longer on Friday though.Had the motul fluid too but have since switched to ATE Typ 200
More photos.
