Abarth 595 Competizione

I have a 595 turismo as my daily, I toyed with the competitzione but the ride was just too harsh on the london roads. It's an epic city car and puts the wind up some much more serious toys. It's in Circuit grey with brown leather.
I can't fault it other than I can't get my mountain bike in the back!.

140, 160, 180 hp and then the middle one has Koni FSD on the back? and Comp has Koni FSD all round + the quad pipe monza exhaust? Are the other two more muted ?
I think that's more or less it. Though the new models (from 66 plates i think) have an extra 5hp. The difference in power from the standard 595 to the turismo is mapping and a different turbo. The power difference between the top 2 is just mapping, they have the same engine and turbo.

Perhaps, its not a car I like the look of mind. Its not that it looks ugly, it just looks ungainly. I don't know why. I'm definitely one for the more Anime/Manga lines of the Mazda. I like the 595 because it looks so wrong, its right.
I too would be coming from a Civic. Not a Type S, but a 5 door ES of similar vintage. The suspension is absolutely abhorrent. Its fine to have a firm ride but the Civic seems to have absolutely no refinement at all. Completely uncouth (and mine sounds now likes its only very loosely joined together). It is at 105k miles now and you can tell; everything is loose, the engine is loud, the interior is tired, wobbly and sounds like its collapsing around you and I've started to get sporadic warning lights about the ABS, VSA and oil level sensor.
I want shot of it, but I'm finding it terribly difficult to figure out what I want to replace it with... most stuff these days leaves me cold. Yeah I could buy something because I need it, but I want to want something. Still, I could be changing jobs soon and that might necessitate something frugal (or electric!).
Your car sounds identical to my experience, I also had the abs/vsa issues. I’d say the engine may be a bit louder than the Civic but then you are sat right on top of it compared to the long bonnet of the civic. I too would be coming from a Civic. It all gets a bit confusing with so many special editions the current special (is it the trofeo?) come with an Akrapovic exhaust but no brembos! They appear to be part bin specials. Trofeo

Some very nice Turismo's on AT though, lovely Blues and Yellows. For me I think it would be between the Turismo and a Comp, the former are handily cheaper though if looking for a relatively new one with the latest designs. But the comp just seems to be the full on giggle you'd hope it to be.
Civic has been a disappointment in all but reliability. (and looks). I guess the engine was made in Japan, hence why that bit will never die and the rest Swindon.... hence, bag 'o' ste.

595, Trofeo, Turismo, Comp ; 145, 160, 165, 180 hp And I think there is a video n YT from AutoTopNL who are supposed to be showing the difference between Turismo and Comp in acceleration but what they actually are doing is comparing a Turismo 595C with a tuning box switched on or off that takes it up to 180 hp. Brown Leather looks absolutely top by the way!

There are plenty of companies that will tune the turismo or the comp up to 210/220hp with a remap, I think they up the torque too. I think that would be a real pocket rocket, perhaps when the warranty expires ...And I think there is a video n YT from AutoTopNL who are supposed to be showing the difference between Turismo and Comp in acceleration but what they actually are doing is comparing a Turismo 595C with a tuning box switched on or off that takes it up to 180 hp. I watched a few vids on YT of a guy called Stef? StefAB? something like that. He has a black 595 comp and I think its running 250 hp now. Not sure if he changed the turbo on it though. It seems a bit mental at that level!
Steff has put a different turbo on his, also running a FMIC instead of the 2 small side mounted intercoolers The two main models are Turismo and Comp.
When we went to the dealer's we drove a 165bhp Turismo. We ruled the comp out as we were already suffereing budget creep. Maybe next time though.
My wife liked the leather seats etc on the Turismo and we were both pretty set on it but then in the corner of the showroom was a Trofeo. They are a bit of a special edition thing. Lower spec than the Turismo in some aspects (160bhp vs 165bhp and no leather seat option) but better in others (bigger info system with Apple car play, telemetry for trackdays, FSDs on rear and the all important Monza quad tip exhaust).
The salesman started it up and I was sold. It sounds even better than a Turismo.
So we forfeited leather seats for a better sound really.
It's 5hp down but figures are identical.
No regrets but I doubt we'd have regretted any Abarth. Me and the wife are still totally excited and smitten with it.
I've said it before, they're the automotive equivalent of a puppy, they're daft, they just want to play and they make you smile.
It really has put the fun back into driving for me. I've had 911s since I was 25 (I'm 40 in a week or so) including Turbos and GT3s but it's all very serious. The Abarth takes me back to when I was 18 and I was bombing about in my 205GTi. Fun fun fun!
Enjoy the cars lads.

Interesting to hear. I have heard many moan about that Monza exhaust though, fine when booting it and a bit tiresome on a motorway with its droning.... however these have all come from people driving cars that are circa 2013? So I don't know if they did a bit of extra work on the latest re-fresh to sort that out? When we went to the dealer's we drove a 165bhp Turismo. Not sure why they made it 160 hp? unless its engine is put together as per the pre-refresh ones? i.e. Presumably doesn't have the same turbo as the Turismo and Comp now share. Either way its only 5 hp and the torque figures are the same in the necessary places, so I'd guess you're only losing it on the top end and perhaps 1-2 mph off the top speed. Like it matters.
Certainly not one to be arsed about leather seats either. Cloth if possible, every time.
I'll have a look on AT today. Ideally would like to try all of them as it sounds like they can either be subtly different, or completely different depending on model. Just need to find the one that strikes the best compromise.

How the hell are you getting 40mpg? I'm getting 25mpg (I do basically stand on the throttle pedal constantly while driving it though).... however this is a welcome saving over the 18mpg I was getting from my previous B8 RS4 daily
Easy to get 40 if you drive it off the boost I would imagine. The minute you start beating on the loud pedal turbo engines become very hungry little things. They don't have high compression ratios, certainly you might find an NA engine with higher and a diesel even more so, so they are inherently less efficient thermally. But that is the trade off as it allows you to reduce the engine size and thus you use less fuel by less volume when running off the boost (cruising essentially). How the hell are you getting 40mpg? It’s great to see other owners on here having just as much fun with the car, it really is a hidden gem of a car and something that appears to be growing in popularity.
The want is getting serious.
My current commute is about 8 miles each way (or 14, depending on route) and the Abarth would be perfectly livable from what I understand of it.
However, I could be changing jobs and the commute will shoot to 33 each way. However, it would be pretty much all cross-country. Plenty of time for some fun! But for that kind of drive which will be circa 45 minutes (and 16k a year!) it is going to have to offer some level of comfort. Hence my questions about the Monza exhaust droning and if the Sabelts that come in the Comp are comfortable. I am still erring on the side of the Turismo as it just seems that they've chamfered the hard edges off it just a little.
I think as well, it would probably be a car that is kept for a year or two before moving on.
My original intent for that commute was to get an electric car like a leaf, as it'd save a pretty penny on fuel (I have to buy a new car regardless really). But fk it. I got plenty of time later in life to drive a mealy mouthed electron mobile. I have never had a fun car and I always said to myself I would buy a fun car after I graduated and got a job.... that was 2009.

So a quick update. Just completed around 1800miles through Europe with a surprising average of 38.9mpg!
After driving all day on the first day to get to stuttgart 8miles from the hotel the tyre pressure sensor warning came on. A quick check revealed nothing untoward so we pressed on. In the morning I checked all the pressures and they were fine and so reset he sensors. After that the car didn’t miss a beat.
I’ll weite up a full trip review over the weekend but for now here’s up the Stelvio filmed from the front towing eye and down the pass filmed from the rear towing eye.

Do the S4's have cruise control? I have seen reference to it a few times (but it might not be for UK models).
I am hopefully going to see one at the weekend, its a late 65 plate S3, red, petal wheels, abarth stickers down the side. Looks in good nick, only done about 5k miles. They're asking about £11600 for it. Not sure if that is steep or not, there aren't exactly many for sale!
There is a plain white one closer to home (not much) also a 65 plate and a black one at Rockingham, a 15 plate, with tan interior. Both are £12k. The tan leather does look delicious, but then the car is black and I have sworn to myself not to get another car in a gray-scale colour!!! But it is nice.....
S4's are just a little too pricey I think. The cheapest one is another £2k minimum.
ETA. To be honest I should really wait to see what my job situation turns out like. If I end up staying put, my circa 6-8k miles PA would mean PCP/Leasing a new one would be favorable. I mean as much fun as I think this car will be, it isn't going to be something I keep for more than 2 years).
