Yeah I got lucky really, wasn't shopping on colour per se. The only rarer colour than milano seems to be the silver.
Yeah my mate had a Silver Dc5 and my other had the CW both went up for sale at the same time, White was snapped up within days yet the the silver literally took months to even get a bite despite being lower mileage cleaner and same price. Really have a soft spot for NHB Dc5.
I'd love a Nighthawk black with red interior if i was ever to re-roll and get another one. On the plus side, the rarity of the milano red should help it hold a bit of value over the scores of white and blue ones.

So, the dc5 has been in the bodyshop for 2 weeks now...longest i've been without a car for a while, although I am pretty excited to have it back with a shiny new full respray.

Hopefully get it back in another 1-2 weeks, but in the meantime I wanted a little project.

Managed to source a pair of now discontinued OEM honda wind deflectors. Brand new sets of these now change hands for £150+ due to their rarity. I managed to pick up a used pair for half that, with all the clips intact...the only issue being their considerable fading/weathering.

An hour of polishing by hand, and the one on the bottom is the fruits of my labour...rather pleased smile

Looks very good in the red so glad you are getting it in the same colour. Are you getting the fog light moved while they are at it?

In an ideal world I would have liked to, but had a lot of life stuff going on over summer so didn't get around to sourcing a rear bumper without the cutout.

I've had problems on previous cars when stuff has been blanked by a bodyshop and cracked further down the line, didn't want to risk it.

I've kinda gotten used to it tbh, as the car is red it doesn't stuck out too much visually.

Couple of respray WIP pics, it's coming along pretty nicely.

Decided to have the rear chassis/slam panel painted due to the surface rust found when having the rear light gaskets done the other week, in for a penny, in for a pound and all that.

Still hunting around for a decent underseal place in Herts/Beds if anyone knows of somewhere.

Collected the car yesterday. I highly recommend Wright's bodyshop in Kings Langley, Herts.

The car now has a decent 2 stage paint job, and no orange peel in sight.

So, obligatory pics.

That looks a tidy job, Milano is a great colour on the DC5.

Thanks!

Next stop is CSK automotive in december for a full steam clean underneath to strip the old underseal and have it retreated front to back and resealed with dinitrol, along with wheel arches and all the cavities waxed...they're a land rover specialist so it sounds like it's their bread and butter. £350 all in.

New headlights and wind deflectors fitted over the weekend to set the new paint job off. I'm rather pleased!

Nice work! Are they brand new headlights? Bet they cost a bit?!

Yeah man, brand new, the old ones just stop coming good with polish after a while.

£380 for the pair, excluding the HID ballasts...so not cheap, although still cheaper than a new pair of s2000 headlights lol.

Car looked great after the respray and I didn't want to be 'that guy' who mentioned the headlights and relieved himself on your cornflakes; but I'm SO glad you've replaced them, they make a massive difference to the car... it looks mega now!! cool

Was always on the cards, getting the car painted just made them stick out more so i figured i may as well bite the bullet!

The upkeep continues.

Full strip underneath and dinitrol, budgeted in for kurust treatment too but apparently it was pretty clean underneath.

cheers, it's certainly getting there.

Unfortunately i've got some issues with the respray, so there's a fair chance i'll be getting it painted again in the spring, which definitely wasn't part of the plan.

After that it'll more or less be left alone for a while...at some stage i'd like to get a decent JDM cat back for it and some more progressive suspension, but aside from that it will be cleaned, serviced and driven a bit!

Approaching 70k which will be a nice milestone smile

It's a stunning thing, even with a dodgy paint job tongue out

I was looking at swapping my Megane in for one a while ago, and had a red one been available I would've bought it on the spot!

its a cracking car tbh, i'd be hard pressed to find something which manages to blend practicality and performance so well without costing the earth to run and maintain.

Would recommend one in a heartbeat!
