Don't put your buckets onto the standard runners, as it will be just as high as factory.

Get either low-profile mounts, or attach them directly (with the correct bracket) to the floor.

In my ITR I had super low-profile adjustable runners - brought me down about an inch from standard (a lot) but still let me move the seat forwards/backwards when I either needed access to rear or when someone else was going to drive.
I dont care about other people driving as this is very unlikely. I dont need rear access too. I'm happy to just try some seats for now with minimal to no adjustment. This is only a car I use occasionally. I want to be lower as this is one of the main problems with the 996 being as I'm almost 6 foot 2.

You'd need to get a bodyshop to smooth the front number to use a stick on plate. I bought a shorter plate and attached it to the front bumper without the plinth
Do you mean smooth the front bumper?

I've not looked under the plinth.

Stupid phone!

Yes you'll need to get the bumper smoothed, unscrew the plinth and there are 2 raised fixings moulded in to the bumper that the plinth screws in to. I screwed my number plate directly in to these fixings

I don't think any stick on plates are legal.

Obviously if everything is correctly sized, spaced and the right font you're unlikely to get any hassle.

Ok what about an actual plate then but bent slightly and no plinth?

Whats the law say - no stickers?

MOT time for me soon. I think I have 4 weeks or something. Currently showing an Airbag light on the dash which wasn't there when I bought the car. Obviously I have a dodgy momo rip off / fake wheel with no air bag so is this an MOT failure?

Not 100% sure, but I think it is a fail.

Your indy can switch the light off easily enough.

I'm fairly sure the earlier cars don't legally need an airbag as they were made before it was compulsory. I need to double check the dates before I do it.

But if the light is on its a fail, your indi can turn it off

I think the test is that the light must come on then off with the if ignition so just coding out the light or pulling the bulb won't work.

If its fitted it must work. An airbag light indicates the system is not working.

You car should fail.

Check if you ave a defeat resistor fitted - it might have fallen out. You can switch the light off easy with a £12 durametric clone from ebay. Click "993" for clearing the 996 airbag module.

Took wheel off to investigate illuminated airbag light. Basically wheel can stay in situ as wiring is accessible once cowling removed.

Nice.

There should be a resistor inline with the fuse.

test the fuse and the resistor value? I dunno what value the resistor should be, google will tell.

You'll need durametric or clone to turn the light off afterwards. I use a £12 ebay clone - choose 993 not 996 for the airbag module on these AFAIK. I fact one of these would tell you where the fault lies... it might not be the wheel.....

Dug out these old pics and thought I may as well post them up showing the ride height measured with a simple rule. This is with 18 inch wheels. I think the first pic is the rear but makes no difference as the measurement is basically the same.

Car is still not MOT'ed. I really need to get my finger out and get it tested. I now have 2 cars with no MOT.

Just fired up the old girl. First time in what must be 6 weeks plus. Managed to open the door and start the engine with the key and zero drama. Only left her running for a minute and then shut her down. Battery now on the trickle charger in the house. Calling for an mot slot next.
