Looks great on those wheels (lightest of any oe 996 wheel).

If anyone has a rear pair for sale, I need them to make my set up.

Yours are 17's aren't they? That would be very low at the rear for 18's, no idea what 17's should be run at.

I run my 18’s at 36 on the rear. Makes the ride and handling MUCH better.

I ran my 18 lower. 986 uses same 18 sizes and i think book for them is 29f 36r.

Book says 36 36 for the 17 on the 996. I found this out after i first fitted them. I'd been running my 18 at 28f 32r so i did the same with the 17 and it was absolutely awful. In a bend it felt like the car was see sawing about the middle. So clearly the 17 fronts are quite soft and need some pressure to firm them up. I might soften the rears as the Porsche recommended on the 18 was crazy hard.

Had a bit of an adjustment of the wipers today as they were catching each other just before they came to the bottom of their movement. I'll go get a pic as now I am wandering if the driver side wiper is a bit high. Before it was touching the plastic cover when parked. Now it is adjusted it does not touch the plastic cover but it sweeps over the rubber seal a bit at the end of its upper movement, near where the roof pillar meets the roof.

So I'm starting to think about different seats. When I drive my 981 and then drive the 996 I feel too high. I keep going on about this so now its time to just get on with it. I dont really know where to start. As in there are so many seats to choose from. I do have some fixed buckets in my lock up which I've had for years and never used. Maybe I should just try them. How do I go about fitting fixed buckets in my 996. Is there a simple seat bracket arrangement I can buy for this where I keep the normal 3 point belt?

Can't help with your specific question, but if I'd ever change my seats, I'd go with Recaro Pole Position in black leather (with the small, black Recaro Logo). Carbon ones would be even nicer.
If I wanted a retro touch, I'd do the inserts in houndstooth cloud9

I cant remember. I think they're Cobra. I only paid £200 for them. Nothing fancy and mainly black with a couple of blue bits.

With my red interior I'd be happy with plain black and maybe a bit of the red in the middle. But for now I am happy enough trying some seats for fit and sod the colours.

How much a set of those Recaros and where does one go to get them?

You'll need some adaptors that allow your seats to attach to the standard runners in your car.

Have a look here to get an idea...

Have a look here for normal ones: http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod8060/RECARO-Pole...

and here for carbon ones: http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod132661/RECARO-Po...

Add about £200 per side for sliders and brackets. So new carbon/leather ones will see you north of £5k eek
Expensive, I know, but would you just look at them!!

I'm not sure how well I'd sleep with 5k carbon seats outside.

Standard leather ones can be had for half that. And you do find them on ebay/gumtree etc. used for less, of course.
I'd sell the Cobra ones off and get some Recaro PP. GRP or carbon, Velours, Nardo, leatherette or real leather gives you a wide variety, also in price.
Not only because of the connection between Porsche and Recaro, imho the proper seat for your car wink

I've never sat in a fixed bucket for any duration. And I've never driven in one.

Also what do we think about a sticker for number plate like this - or even higher up on bonnet - wherever is legal and remove the standard plastic holder

You'd need to get a bodyshop to smooth the front number to use a stick on plate. I bought a shorter plate and attached it to the front bumper without the plinth

Don't put your buckets onto the standard runners, as it will be just as high as factory.

Get either low-profile mounts, or attach them directly (with the correct bracket) to the floor.

In my ITR I had super low-profile adjustable runners - brought me down about an inch from standard (a lot) but still let me move the seat forwards/backwards when I either needed access to rear or when someone else was going to drive.
