That ticking noise you mentioned, not sure if I've missed someone else's reply but it's quite common on the M96 blocks. Mine had exactly the same thing if I didn't use it; sticking lifters. A quick spirited drive and it clears them right up. Lots of coverage on google about it as it's very common, so nothing to worry about.
A quick wet sand/polish of those headlights and they'll clear right up too. Meguiars even do a kit for it with a buffer head for a conventional drill.

Ticking noise is definitely happening less now. In fact I cant remember the last time it did it. I am basically using this as my daily driver now but sometimes I dont go anywhere for days on end. Also started using Millers 20w50 so not sure if that's helping.A quick wet sand/polish of those headlights and they'll clear right up too. Pressures - not life - tyres
Checked front tyre pressures yesterday. One side on 9.5 psi and the other on 11. No wander the car was struggling under braking and this is only urban jungle speeds. Now on 30 but clearly this wheel set is losing pressure in the fronts.
My last set of 17 rears wore in the centre first so I believe this generally means too much pressure. I've been sticking to around factory recommended pressures of 36 36 but try to use around 1 or 2 less so 34 / 35. I'm thinking now these are too high.
There is a lot of chat about pressures with other owners who all have 18 wheels but not much chat about 17 pressures. I am running the 17 setup with higher pressures than my original 18 setup because the tyres look small and delicate and like they might need a bit more pressure to hold up. At least I know now that's not the case and the car will still drive with only 10 psi in the fronts even if it doesn't exactly perform well.

Can I have those knackered old lights off you when you eventually cave in and get some decent ones/ambers?
I've got an HID project I want to do and I need some clear lights for it.
Car looks sweet apart from the cataracts.
I had someone whip up some HID for me using a set of ambers as the base but one of the internal clips got broke while the finished articles were on their way back to me so they've been sat doing nothing since.I've got an HID project I want to do and I need some clear lights for it.
