No 996.2
On the front the colour was ok, neither amazing or unpleasant (imo).
I'm looking for something with a retro old school flavour flave. It's not intended to be shouty. I'm swinging back to silver but maybe a different silver like Porsche GT Silver.

40 Jahre was GT Silver wasn't it? Shame it's the grenade spec motor.

My brakes seemed a bit wooden with the OE spec brake pads (textar?) in them then I changed the brake rotors which were pretty knackered to OE ATE ones and brake feel really improved. Was surprised with the difference actually.

Having said that track pads do tend to feel awful unless they have some heat in them!

The only benefit to Silver is that's the colour of the car now. Otherwise its not really a colour is it?

If I did get a different colour then maybe I'd need to actual keep it clean or just wash it occasionally. I'm already feeling bad about the little red Boxster I bought which looked basically brand new when I bought it and now it does not.

ATM, this looks like a great picture to end this thread and start a new one in 2022.

How about a title like "Just sold my 3 porks and got myself this 964"

Trying to be too organised with axle stands and chose the wrong place to support the car and boom - snapped an arm.

Bugger. That’s a pain… will need a trailer or recovery to get that to the Indy…. Unless you fancy doing it yourself.

How hard could it be?

I've never touched the back of a 996. Only messed with Boxsters which use same setup as a 996 front on all 4 corners.

Maybe I bite the bullet and whip out struts too for refurb.

Depends how seized everything is. Any idea when they were last off?

I'm guessing 4 or 5 years.

It’s the eccentric bolts that are most likely to be problematic, but at 5yr old they might be fine.

Mental note to never support the car there!

36 years ago, I went to visit my mate for the weekend at Wolverhampton Poly. In my Avenger that I’d bought for £75.

Saturday night, whilst driving 5 of us to the student union, NS rear arm snapped. Parked the car up (luckily no yellow lines) and went for the night out. Caught the train home on the Sunday night, fetched an arm from the local scrappy in the week and trained it back to Wolves the following Saturday with a socket set I’d borrowed from my dad. Changed the arm at the side of the road with the car on a bottle jack biggrin.

The arm looks fairly new, I think you might be in luck. IF the bolt comes out it's a super easy job.

Can I just unbolt old and bolt in new without touching any other nuts?

Yes. Toe arms are very easy to replace. It'll need aligning obviously but you'll want to try and get it beck in the same place for the trip to the garage.

Can I just check what I am buying. Is it in effect the right most arm in this pic - the long one?
