I think they copy the look of the VW RNS510 but with the added benefit of Android functionality and it being cheaper.

It fits perfectly.

I think it's 80 litres. I didn't work out the MPG but a typical good MPG for these is high 30's, maybe 40 if you're careful.

Got it from here, drove over and had it fitted too as I was being a bit lazy.

It's the VW-008 with the addition of DAB aerial.

I'll probably add the reverse camera at some point too.

One of the geekier features that I like is the real time readouts of a few of the vehicle sensors. Haven't worked out yet if I can get things like oil temp to come up.

Not sure if I added this. A quick mod to change the circa 1980's dial switches to something a more contemporary.

Out of interest how does it read the sensors, is it a bluetooth OBD port thing, or some other witchcraft?

I have a similar unit in my E46 Touring, again very OEM looking. You should be able to get hold of most sensors using Torque and an OBD2 Bluetooth dongle.

Apparently because it's CANBUS electronics means it's capable of doing it.

I'd be lying if I said I know how it works.

Treated the van to a detail today. It's got its fair share of dents and stone chips but for nearly 240000 miles it scrubs up pretty well.

Cheers, looks like a great piece of kit!

Van looks ace. I reckon some gloss black vinyl on the B pillar might look good.

Very cool OP, I'll be following this. I'm desperate to do my own day van project and you're providing some inspiration!

I don't know if I should thank you or hate you for resparking my day van idea!

Either way, lovely progress mate. Coming on nicely.

Haha it's a slippery slope. I've banned myself from Forge Motorsports and Darkside Developments respective websites.

Covered another 500+ miles this weekend. No decent photos of the van unfortunately but I did get a new phone so better pics to come.

Visited le cuppola museum in St Omer where the V2 rocket was manufactured and fired from, very impressive site and only 10 Euros to get in.

Yes I've seen it done. Most commonly people use black gloss vinyl, I'll look into it.

I've seen some vans with the whole catalogue chucked at them and I don't like it so progressing slowly as I think the outside is nearly there.
