Couldn't agree more on the wheels, there's no better looking wheels for the 1M than the oem rims but have to say the 18's do make it drive better.
The 18's are the oem wheels that came on a e92 m3 260M and are really hard to find now, it's taken people a long time to wake up to the fact that a lot of cars just drive better on a smaller lighter rim and when I bought the 260M's a long time ago nobody wanted them, fast forward to today and they are now very sought after.

That looks superb. Any side on pictures?
18’s look right on the 1 series sized cars because they’re pretty small things (even the 1M with its monster arches).
The 1M wheels are so pretty though, I’d find it hard to swap them.
Thanks they don't look too bad on there at all.18’s look right on the 1 series sized cars because they’re pretty small things (even the 1M with its monster arches).

I haven't got rid of the originals, they will go back on in the summer.

Ah! I thought they were the 345M wheels from the M5 - very similar from a distance but realise they are 19” so no benefit. Good choice for winter wheel though, definitely. I’m an idiot! Looking at this picture I’ve just realised that you’re the same chap who really kindly reached out to me when I was thinking of buying a 1M and offered me loads of helpful advice on email! It’s only when I noticed you’ve got the stickers on the front wing vents that I put two and two together! I got them fitted to mine only because you pointed them out to me (as well as hunting for a car with the Akra).
Sorry it took me until now to realise - so massive thanks again!!

Lol ! Yes that's me !It’s only when I noticed you’ve got the stickers on the front wing vents that I put two and two together! I got them fitted to mine only because you pointed them out to me (as well as hunting for a car with the Akra).

I hope some of the advice you found helpful as we've all got different opinions about our cars, I was so pleased you pulled the trigger on your car with the big ticket must have items already on there, was definitely a good buy.
The old wing vent stickers are the cheapest must have mod for a white 1M they are just brilliant !
If you ever decide you would like a birds kit for your car just let me know as I still have the as new kit I took off mine.

So many timewasters post those speculative 'I'm thinking of buying xxx' and never go anywhere near pulling the trigger, and it took me a while after your email to find a car that delivered what I was looking for (and find a motivated seller!) - but your effort wasn't wasted and really did influence what I bought!
Very kind offer on the Bird's kit. I'm going to try a good geo first and see if that improves wet/cold performance a bit - but might well be in touch if it doesn't.
For anyone who reads this thread, looked at my M5 and thought “I’d bloody love one like that” then your moment has arrived!
A new job means zero commuting by car for me, so the M5 is pretty much entirely surplus to requirements. It needs a new home with someone who’ll drive it as BMW intended.
A cursory search of PH or AT will find the adverts - or drop me a DM. All this could be yours!
Just know that when you buy it, and drive it away from my house, I’m going to be holding in a tear. I bloody love this car…

So the MINI is back after it's full gearbox rebuild, and to celebrate (and to take my mind off the impeding departure of the M5), I decided to give it a very well-earned clean.
As you can see, I'd been forced to do the post-rebuild shakedown on some pretty horrendous roads so the car was absolutely filthy to the core
The results came out rather well, if I do say so myself!
I don't imagine it'll stay like this for very long, especially with a Bedford track day right around the corner!

I cleaned my car Friday evening, 2 hours into a journey to Broad hunting club and it was filthy again.. bloody grime this time of year is relentless!
Mini’s looking sharp as ever.
What’s the sound restrictions like? I’m looking to take my M3 there as my first track day in the spring but I’ve heard from others it may struggle as it has primary decat.

Cheers! Yeah, even the drive back from the photo location left a slight dusty sheen Mini’s looking sharp as ever.

I think Bedford is one of the most restrictive, so it’s something crazy like 101 static and 87 drive by. They’ve got really aggressive locals and need to make sure they protect the main Jonathan Palmer business.
When we’ve been before, guys in standard GT3s etc were short-shifting at both locations where the mics are to avoid problems.
