Say Hello to Scarlet, my new Caterham 620R
Discussion
After breakfast the rain seemed to clear over, so I sent my Mavic Pro drone up to capture the cars in the car park.
Here's the link.

Not sure the link is working due to,some files being video. ( updated video working now )
Might have to wait until,we are back in the uk to upload the videos!

So as the rain had passed, I thought I will take the half hood off for the first leg of the journey.
Always a bad idea in Wales, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Anyway, at first the showers were only light, so as long as we kept moving it was ok.
But as we went through the Merthyr Tydfil area across to the Epynt driving ranges, the heavens opened to torrential rain.
I pushed on hoping it would stop, but then something did stop, in the worst possible way, my wipers!
Something was wrong but I couldn't work out want, just when you needed them the most, they stopped, a few flicks of the switch and they started again.
Tried waggling the wires behind the switch, but nothing worked. In the end they stopped half way across, right as the rain was heaviest.
I resorted to using my chamois leather to reach over and wipe the screen, not easy when your driving blind in the rain!

Hmmm wonder how mental one would be with a 2.3ltr motor and supercharger?
Mick Atree has built a new car, that has the 2.3 engine, but normally aspirated on throttle bodies, I believe it's close to 300bhp even without the supercharger. It's would be totally bonkers to add one to that engine!
Fun though!

Mick Atree is the Caterham engine builder and also does work for CC on a regular basis too!

I can't imagine how rapid this thing must seem on the road, do you ever get the opportunity to use full throttle for more than a second or two?
Wonderful, mental car.
Hi Alex, yes your correct, to use full throttle even in first and perhaps second gear, is only ever for the shortest period on the road.Wonderful, mental car.
However as I do lots of track days, and more sprint type events at Curborough Sprint Track, I do find myself bouncing off the rev limiter in first and second gears very often!

So to continue the story, we had stopped at the mid point of the fish and chip run, and I decided it was better to put the half hood on and leave it on.
As it turned out by the time we arrived at Aberdovey the sun was out, and it was a beautiful day!
Took the half hood off and left it to dry whilst we all enjoyed fish and chips on the sea front.
Had another look to see what the issue was with the wipers, but could not see anything!
Took some photos and video with my Mavic drone.
On the way home, which was a fantastic sunny day, across some brilliant driving roads, I played with some 360 video from my Nikon KeyMission 360.

Felt like I had not done any little mods for a while at the weekend, so got around to finally fitting the rest of the Carbon items, including the passenger side knee trim and the 12v socket cover too.
I also had a good look at the wiper motor, just to see if it was just the connector block, but it was well attached, so it seems the motor might be faulty, an issue for BaT to look at I think!

Moving into June now, and it was time for another PH Sunday Service, back to Silverstone.
I also took delivery of some great little Wera tool set that were on offer. These are very nice quality items, and Red Bull Racing branded too, with the advantage of them coming in Velcro pouches that I will use to attach them to the boot of Scarlet.

Great thread and a lovely looking car
What belts does it come with and why did you have to drill-out holes to fit 6-point harnesses - would have thought that is catered for on this type of car?
Enjoy in good health
Just out of interest.... you attach the lower belts through bolts drilled through the floor? Is the floor structurally strong enough not to cause the steel bolts to rip out in a severe accident? Surely the floor is just alluminium or honeycomb alluminium? What belts does it come with and why did you have to drill-out holes to fit 6-point harnesses - would have thought that is catered for on this type of car?

I thought the bolts for the harness went through the steel chassis?

The only reason you need to drill the holes in the floor is for clearance and to get the bolts in position.
The steel part is structural support for the seat belt mount.
The Caterham Assembley guide breaks it down here.
Just a quick note to say thanks to the guys at Pistonheads for making my 620R " Readers Car of the Week "

I managed this accolade with my previous Superlight Twenty too, I'm sure back then there were plenty of comments about " Readers Wives " section in gentlemens magazines!
