I know how much you guys like an E36 328i so I'm not expecting a lot of love for this. A few of my friends where getting into drifting so I decided to have a go as well, I started looking for a suitable car and this is what I found;

1995 BMW 328i manual
90k miles, full service history, BMW upto 70k
One owner
Boston green
Completely standard
13 months mot

This was in July 2015 the car was in good condition but it did have scabby arches a big scratch down one side and the interior wasn't great, no problem! I think I paid about £700 for it.

I'll update this when I can, it's seen a fair bit of action and is due to be scrapped soon.

I love an E36 and I was going to say it's a shame to have another one made into a drifter.

Then I saw it was a saloon, so have at it!
Although that looks like a really good clean car.

If it was knackered to start with then I don't see an issue. To be fair it's your car and you can do what you like so I wouldn't take issue even if it was mint. I don't think any E36 apart from the M3 will achieve true classic status.

It sold for 700 quid back then, obviously demand for these cars just isnt that high.

Honestly, if its being scrapped id hope for the 6 cilinder to be saved for another car, but a saloon e36 shell, meh.

This has all been done a tight budget, looking back there are a lot of things I would have done differently but this was all new to me. This was also my every day car, I don't know why but I have always liked ridiculously low cars so first up I bought some budget coilovers and adjustable camber top mounts.

Next I welded the diff and changed the subframe, diff and trailing arm bushes to duraflex polybushes.

I needed some spare drift wheels so I bought some banded steelies to use on the road and kept the standard wheels for drifting. The steelies were 16 x 9 at the front and 16 x 11 at the back, obviously these didn't fit.

Alongside ruining the car I had been learning and having a lot of fun! All safe and legal of course.

It was a very clean car, rusty sills aside, I actually prefer the saloon especially with all the M trims.

They seem to be fetching a lot more now, even the saloons! I have always preferred the 4-door and the engine will be going into another paperbag

Fair dos! I must say it looked fantastic on the staggered Alpinas. If you still have them and want rid, let me know. They would be absolutely perfect on my Touring.

That car is benny.c and I shouldn't think he would sell the wheels as the whole car looks to be an Alpina! cloud9

Why do so many drift cars have stretched tyres? Is it purely cosmetic?

1) stiffer sidewall
2) running lower offset wheels to widen the track of the car- this means that some stretch may be required to bring the tread back into the arch for legal & safety reasons.
