The sides of the intercooler were plastic and only crimped on to the core........they used to blow the sides off under full boost when they were a few years old.
I seem to remember the official Renault fix was to use multiple cable ties passed through the core and fastened around the sides! Cheap and effective.

Nice car! Is it standard under the bonnet? It'd probably still wipe the floor with my XR2... 80's hot hatch grudge match anyone?!

Yes the car is completely standard apart from the tires as the 195/55x13 are not available any more so I run 185/60x13.

Just waiting to have the side decals fitted on both sides then I will post lots of photos.

Indeed I am, still on CS although not had a Renault for years. Who are you?

My mates got a red GTT, such a giggly to drive. Values seem to be on the up defo, need more photos of your blue one!
I cant remember my exact username from back in the day to be honest (long long time ago).

I had an inkling you lived in Derbyshire (checked your profile) as I'm almost certain I bought something and collected it from your house at the time (left turn off the main road up a steep hill??) racking my brains as to what it may have been - possibly a 16v bonnet?

I had a 1.2 mk1 phase 2 clio and a couple of Mk1 Ph2 1.8 16v Clio's.

Apologies OP, way off topic here lol but I've only moved to Derbyshire in past 3 years, previously lived in Mansfield but never flogged a valver bonnet!

Saw a white GTT near Truro the other day. Looked original and well loved too! I had a 5 Alpine back in the day (LHD Gordini turbo) but it torque steered like a hell and was a bit too twitchy on the rear. Good fun though. Yours is looking great!
