Top Tip:
Escy, stop buying branded socks, go to Primark and you'll get the Boxster mk2 sooner!

Well putting the joint back together was a real PITA. But i got it back together and with a new Booth on it, it looks like new.

At last i got the missing part from the exhaust in, so i could finish the exhaust. The simons parts are easy, and its almost like Mecano. Just a little bit off welding and cutting.

i'm happy with the result. Ain't got the sliddest idea how its going to sound, but whel see when its runs.

The mounts i sort off copied from the Original Boxster mounts. I used the 2 mounts that are normaly on top off the Boxster, and made them on the exhaust clambs. And made a Bracket on the gearbox.

Not shure iff i'm going to end in 1 oval or 2 rounds, but that is for later.

While waiting on the exhaust part, i was thinking off the throttle body. The ABZ trottlebody is huge. I knew from the beginning, that i had to cut in the compartment. Don't mind for that. But if i mount the trottle body as it is, the soft top can't be opened, because the frame doesn't fit then.

On top off the Trottlebody is the IAC (iddle air control) witch is huge.

so i dismanteld it and see where to go from there.

i'm going to cut off the part thats on top, and make an external IAC.

I'm going to drop the engine and see iff i can mount it up side down or something like that. Not shure what to do. Or score a different throttle body. will see when its down.

I'll follow this with interest as I've taken a slightly different approach on the mounts and exhaust and a few other bits. I've not had to cut any bodywork to fit it, but have had to resort to a different throttle body setup. I've had mine briefly on the dyno, but an issue with the timing belt has caused me more than a couple of headaches! My build thread is on Facebook under V8 Boxster build (the red Boxster).

Realy love your page on facebook. I heading the same direction with the trottlebody. Bought an aftermarket one. But its eating a lot off time. Will post some pictures soon. A well...... winter has to come, so i have the time.

I see you pussed the engine as far as possible up front to get more clearance for the trottle. Cant see good what you did with the plumbing. Normaly on the audi, one of the lines on the back off the engine go’s to the coolant tank and heater core and the other go’s to second line heater core. Are your lines only go to the heater cor now. And where did you connect the thin line that is normaly at the front of the coolant hoses and go’s to high connection of the coolant tank. Thnx

Bin Ages sinds the last post. The throttlebody is giving me a hard time.
orderd a universal throttlebody. but then the hard part begins. All kind off mounts and things has to be made. And that is eating Time.

Because i use the OEM ECU, i have put in:

Trottle posision sensor. (BTW, mine is a cabled throttle)
Intake air temperatur sensor
Iddle air control
vacuum for feul pressure valve, evap. brakebooster

I wanted to keep the vario ram air, so i had to improvise a lot to make it fit.
So A lot off work, but a Little progress

hope things will go faster now. going to drop the engine. for maintnance and wiring.

Looks awesome. I have a 996, if the 3.4 ever lets go I do wonder what I would slot in there!
I believe there is a kit to fit a LS1 V8 into a 996. There are certainly a few running about. They even did one on Fast N’ Loud.

There is, but they are quit expensive. Renegade hybrids sells them.

http://www.renegadehybrids.com/

And you have to cut in the construction of the car. The Ls engines are a lot longer then the porsche and Audi engines. And cutting in the construction is in Holland not allowed

I don't know how much of the back end they cut to get it in there, but RUF made a 911 V8 https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/ruf...

Unfurtuned not much progress. So much to do and so little time. Dropped the engine for maintenance. Timing belt etc. Put some paint on the valve covers in metallic red. Painted the timing belt covers in grey. Intake is going to be bleu. Hope i have some time in the cristmas hollydays to do some more.

Hello man, good thread!

I was actually wanted to ask if you'd consider make another ABZ cradle to sell me! but that comes across as bad forum etiquette. Maybe just a mounting holes jig wink;)

I am happy to see you're using the stock Audi ECU, as this s the best solution IMO. I thought it was no go to cut down the loom and bin the modules but you seem to have done it no bother lol.

Where you said you drilled the G87 box for crank sensor, is that for the tach on the 986 clocks to work?

Have you looked at the sensors also? As they are all Bosch, hopefully the temp / oil sensors are direct fit, or maybe use the ABZ sensors and they might work on the 986 clocks readout if they are same era / same protocol!

Also you have crossed the bridge but did you consider removing 986 gearbox output shafts and swapping them into the 01X box? Don't know if splines match I suppose...

Watching with interest and envy and might copy some ideas with full credit given of course..!

beers keep it up!

Regards,
Biscuit,

Regards,
Biscuit,
Hello Bisuit,

Didn’t do anything yet on the car. My best friend is diagnosed with cancer and hasn’t long to live, so my mind is not at the car at the moment.

The crank sensor is for the ecu to tell that the crank is turning and that will start the engine. The Audi and porsche sensors a quit simulair, so they will communicate with the tacho etc.

I didn’t open the G86-20 because its worth a decent mony. So i bought the g87 and try to sell the other one
