1973 Mercedes SLC

Sell? Sell! What means this "sell" word?
But here's a project that's selling, wonder if it will get over 7.5k.

Like many of us, I'm a more enthusiastic buyer than seller (the former is sooo exciting, the latter such a ball-ache) and I sense that is how 'collections' start! But here's a project that's selling, wonder if it will get over 7.5k.

That gold SLC linked looks a decent proposition. I'm always suspicious of a 3 grand respray prior to sale, but some sensible work has been done. It strikes me that it could be a very decent start-point for a keeper if you like the colours and have a friendly local car-smith. Getting it for sub-8k or so would be a result I reckon.

I'm a big fan of Ikon gold and the other 70's colors. This was my old 1979 450SLC 5.0. Somebody had repainted it thristle green at one time and I painted it back to Ikon gold. I should never have sold that car.But here's a project that's selling, wonder if it will get over 7.5k.

Thanks for the comments chaps. I agree with r129sl that many of the number plates in the photos are very appropriate.
I'd removed the carpets anyway as I feared this would happen. Recent rainfall has been biblical, but it reinforces the need to get the car under cover asap.
I might have to get an outdoor car cover, something I was hoping to avoid. Any recommendations?

It does, but some things never change; the boot's wet. Again. I'd removed the carpets anyway as I feared this would happen. Recent rainfall has been biblical, but it reinforces the need to get the car under cover asap.

I use a Coverdale Platinum, I wouldn't say it was bad but you do still get some water on the bodywork. Keeps the worst of it off though.

Well doesn't this look the bee's knees. Now the weather has turned I am seeing more classics coming out of hiding. Living where I do mine is going to have to live on the street from this month onwards, until winter at least...this is of more than a little concern as some hollow-headed oaf smashed my tatty 2002 Ford Puma side window last week, for no apparent reason. I guess thankfully they ignored the M3, M6, SL350 and countless brand new cars which reside next to it (none of which are mine I hasten to add). We shall see what we shall see.As you know mine shall be on the road from next week so might see you out and about in the sunshine at some point.

I hope that yours proves immune from some scrote's attention and that you enjoy it over the summer. After a couple of weeks inactivity during the snowy weather, I took mine out for a good blast today and had lots of positive comments locally. It is running perfectly. The boot is soaking wet though, and although I've removed the carpets in the horizontal, the carpets in the vertical have absorbed water and the boot is a little fragrant. An afternoon with the boot open had made things a little better, but I really need to get it under cover as soon as I can.
