Great to see you pop up again on the forum CdG, and wonderful to hear about the 124 - I look forward to reading more as they are very pretty little cars. Congratulations.

My car has not moved for months now and the issues of owning it in central London allied to the general outlook may also move me towards a sale at some point although I am not entirely convinced as of yet. I received a new sunroof cable this month from a wonderful place in deepest Germany which once again made me overly-fetishise the experience of owning an old Mercedes - yet another affliction there's no vaccine for at present.

I've always like the SLC but interested in your comment, "That there is a lot of wind noise" is this a problem with them or is it something you've cured? I loathe wind noise so this alone if its something they suffer from would put me off. Look forward to hearing, thanks.
This is something I have commented about previously on my own SLC thread and I have found them not to be quiet cars with regards to wind noise. A new sunroof seal is incoming which might resolve the issue and if so I will be shouting it from the rooftops.

To say what I have is a 'plan' would be over-stating it. I currently have a problem!
Quarantine adds to the challenge, but let me know if I could be part of the solution. I'll see what I can do.

Many thanks, that's very good of you and I appreciate it.

It's all rather tricky with quarantine and limited flights back to UK. The delivery quotes are currently hovering around the 1000 mark which is more than I was expecting, but it may yet prove the most straightforward.

I've got room to store the parts for you CdeG if you get stuck.

I'd offer to bring the car over for you and put up with quarantine, but I've got a holiday booked 5th-13th September!

Thanks Krikkit, that's jolly decent of you. At the moment it's possible that BVF72 might take them as the parts might be useful for us both, but we haven't tied it down yet.

I've just returned from a cross-border dash to Germany to meet a chap to discuss a lens change for the headlights. He's pretty confident that will get it through the test so he'll order and will fit when I can get it back to him.

The car is running very well, and I did a bit of V-Max on the autobahn on the way back. Got it comfortably over 100 (with the sunroof open). The speedo showed 110 mph and the phone GPS 160 km/h. Car was rock steady and comfortable.

That is like a rather unpleasantly masculine equivalent of that bird MaryAnn from Autohouse of Naples, Florida who does those car sales videos in which I set so much hope and yet find so much disappointment.

Well at least he looks like he is wearing a table cloth up top and a nice looking tudor sub style watch, what more does a classic car owner need or want?

Inspired use of the ash tray. I've been incorrectly placing the phone under the handbrake but of course you can't see a thing there. Amateur hour as ever.

You're driving down the middle of the road and you're not wearing any trousers.

Seems like a fairly typical classic car owner.
Good to see someone else had the exact same thoughts as I.

To avoid causing upset I can confirm that I was appropriately covered where it matters. I think the road positioning was due to having just overtaken a flabby chap in a VW, but it might have been poor skillz and a tendency to hog the middle.

Not helping matters. Now imagining what cover might consist of.

The 70s German now has a 70s Italian stable-mate.

The SLC goes to my German garage-iste in mid-Sep for the work on the lights.

I do like the 124 spider. A friend of mine here in Dallas Texas is a specialist and sells parts for these cars. He has a really nice 71. Compared to my old 73 MGB, this car was light years ahead. Given my access to this guy, I've often considered getting one but I just have too many cars right now to justify it, including a Triumph TR6 which checks many of the boxes.

I take your point, but I don't much like white cars and I really don't need a 5th one. The current tally is 3 blue and a red.
Latest purchase. laugh

I now have a red(ish), white and blue.

I took it out last week and got a pic in the same spot I'd taken one of the SLC.
