Fellow E55 pilot here. Bought my estate 3 weeks ago for absolutely bottom of the budget money. So far so good - high miles at 159k but seems to be in rude health. The engine is just epic.
If you are looking to sell that MBU3000, let me know. It would be good to get some phone connectivity in the car.
Sorry mate, I sold it before I saw this post. If you are looking to sell that MBU3000, let me know. It would be good to get some phone connectivity in the car.
I think I sold it too cheap as well!
Changed the grill today. The old one is in the bin. Whichever of the previous owners who fitted wants some stern words in their direction! Bolt missing, another bolt use was the cheapest ****tiest bolt ever. It fought me all of the way off. I had to snap the grill to even get anything on it.
Looks better now though. I may go for a black chrome one or something at some point.

Considering ordering one of these to take over the charge cooling duties for the s/c.
I know someone who uses one and it seems to work. Split cooling is an option in the future. I aren't convinced about using the Killer Chiller option as while this runs off the A/C so will cool the water, I aren't convinced about the cost and the strain it will put on the A/C kit.

I saw this on a thread on the MBWorld Forum

I'm considering this as I'm planning on replacing the pump anyway as preventative maintenance.
Looks like both need brackets made up which is where I'd struggle.
That is the one I am looking at, £201.30 delivered from a UK supplier.http://www.frozenboost.com/water-to-air-heat-excha...

Same cooler, just £18 + import duty cheaper.

I am quite happy with the standard audio. Radio reception isn't always the best but neither was it in my M5.
I had it dyno'd at MSL on Saturday, it made 444bhp and 534lbft to the wheels. This equates to 522bhp and 630lbft at the fly. The IATs were too high, they reckon it should be between 530 and 560bhp to the fly. Its had a Bosch pump apparently so I am going to fit a new larger heat exchanger.
I'm going to lower it and then that's about it. The miles are too high on it to tune it further and to get over 600bhp will end up costing around another £2500, and I don't think it is worth it, especially as I plan on getting an E63 BiTurbo or F10 M5 next.

Whats it already had done, those engines seem to be nigh on unburstable, and very tuneable, I had it dyno'd at MSL on Saturday, it made 444bhp and 534lbft to the wheels. I am sorry I bottled out of getting one now, I do think that as AMG are dropping V8's they may start to be a little more appreciated over time, weird how they are actually quite cheap yet a 190 2.5 is mega money, same with E500s or is it 500E's these are probably a lot better than either if we are honest. That said, looking in March, a lot are still for sale that I was looking at.
Would love to try one, and see what its like compared to my CLS 500, as I still find that quick, and it "only" has 388 bhp, surely with 522 it must be as quick as you ever need ?
I have the dyno graph of my E55, I'll upload it shortly.
