Wow, you chaps were on it! Loving the heel-and-toe plus left foot braking skills. Muchos respect.
Did your pal get the work done to his GT4 by Manthey in Germany or by a UK distributor (if one indeed exists) do you know?
Cheers. I'm 99% sure he got the work done here in the UK, but will check with him when we next catch up. I remember him saying it allowed him to run a lot more camber at the rear, much like the GT3RS. Also, and I can't for the life of me remember why, he took the carbon ceramic brake discs/pads off and into storage, and put traditional steels back on for heavy/regular track use. I know the carbon set up is mega bucks, so all I can think of is there is somehow the possibility of them getting "damaged" with constant track use, but that goes against everything I understand about them as I would have thought carbon ceramics are designed for hard track use, so I really don't know the reason Did your pal get the work done to his GT4 by Manthey in Germany or by a UK distributor (if one indeed exists) do you know?
nice video.

i'm very impressed with the GT4 video. no disrespect intended but he made your Atom look hard work in comparison. the GT4 was barely moving around, and very quick. i've seen it before in trackdays when a really nicely set up car with decent not outlandish power is extremely hard to pass or keep with. both cars look quick, but he has a roof and protection lol!
nice video.
I don't take your comments with any disrespect, we're all friends here nice video.
I fully agree with you. The Atom IS hard work to drive at/near the limit, and I've spent a lot of time over the last five years or so fine tuning the set up to get it where I now feel pretty "confident" with how it behaves. I think that's why they often seem "slow" on track, because unless you understand them/have them set up correctly/are committed, they can be terrifying when pushed hard, they don't flatter the driver and will quickly punish any ham fistedness! However, they are EXTREMELY rewarding when you get to grips with them and can be driven quickly. When I first bought it, it frightened me driving on track, now I love it There are definitely "quicker" cars out there and better handling ones, but for out and out FUN I think you'd have to go along way to be beat an Atom (if you can live with no roof/doors etc).
Going back to your point, the GT4 definitely handled better/flatter than the Atom and was a lot less "hard work," and my buddy wasn't holding back. The only other real significantly noticeable difference that you can sense in the video is the weight, but there isn't much you can do about physics! I was suprised just how sorted it was, it really is a quick car. Incidently, he used to own an Atom but got rid as he couldn't get on with it, typical Gayman owner If I had the money etc I would love a GT4.
Anyway, apologies to the OP for the slight thread derail, as you were sir

Sounds like you're trying to sell an Atom to me nice video.
No apology needed at all old boy, it's been genuinely fascinating to read and see the difference between a true lightweight with a huge power to weight ratio versus a an extremely well-sorted and benign handling sports car. Both of you are obviously extremely talented behind the wheel and not short of bottle. Bravo!
I'm fortunate enough to own this GT4 and a Lotus 3-Eleven so I'm quite familiar with the key differences between both types of car. I have the confidence with the GT4 (and the Cayman R I owned before it) to push it to the very edge of my abilities, but I still feel I'm skating on ice somewhat with the Lotus, even if it's the most grin-inducing car I've ever owned. Both though are mega!

Apologies to the OP also, very interesting read thanks, you can tell you were pushing the atom hard. I've seen and read the various GT4 reports saying how good they are but that was quite a vivid demonstration, atoms aren't slow!I fully agree with you. The GT4 with the Lotus 3-Eleven.
I’m now finding it almost impossible to resist the mouthwatering upgrades (as suggested by fellow PetrolHeads) on offer by respected tuners for both vehicles - JZM and/or Parr for the Porsche and Hangar 111 and/or Komo-tec for the Lotus.
I’m going to be broke next year!
