My bad, missed the part where you said you'd changed the fuel pump. Pressure sensor then I suppose, like you say. My mechanics however tend to rely on a combination of best guess and 'sort by price'.

Beyond that if it isn't a fuel problem I'd be looking to my MAF or anything that then determines fuel input.

Pressure sensor is next on the list, ordered a new one this evening. Would a failing/failed MAF cause these symptoms??

Those are classic symptoms of a stretched cam chain, something of a problem on that engine as i understand.

I thought the cam chain issue affected the Z22SE ont the Z22YH.

Is the YH the direct injection one?

I've an Alfa 159 with the 1.9 direct injection JTS (2.2 with a shorter stroke) and it has the chain issues. Zero power in the midrange
