The only downside is maintenance a lot of items are suzuki only at great expense and minimum 5 day delivery.
That is a pain, consequence of low sales over here I guess, and not atypical of Japanese cars. With our old Datsun/Nissan Prairie (1.5 GL) we used a mixture of Blueprint and genuine (where Blueprint wasn't available) parts. IIRC Nissan wanted ~£80 for a replacement analogue clock.I'm hoping that because the Swift has sold in larger numbers that spares availability will be less of an issue.
Really wanted a blue one my gl was blue. Really nice colour when clean and polished
The list is never ending I'm always thinking of different things to do to maintain or improve
My gl had loads of aftermarket bits that fitted the sport however is a different beast. The parts suppliers say the bits will fit and you receive them there miles different.
I can't see there being a problem with parts for swift sports as they are made in large numbers. The ignis sport was limited to 3k examples apparently since they could go rallying.
Anything through the main dealer regardless of model is extortion and they carry little stock in UK especially the older models like mine.

I had a similar problem when my exhaust rusted through. Mid and back box is Sport specific and only available from Suzuki which is why I ended up buying a used powerflow system. The list is never ending I'm always thinking of different things to do to maintain or improve

Ahhhh I miss mine so much. Had a blue one for about 3 years before I broke the gearbox... I still remember when I got the car I spent weeks scouring ebay for some original Enkei wheels. The previous owner only managed to supply me with 3 and I really liked the original white Enkei's.
Have been tempted so many times to buy one for a little bit of fun, but just cant justify it to myself. Strangely enough, for such a small engined N/A car, it really liked the super stuff. When I didn't run mine on super it seemed to throw the spanner in the works in terms of running. I also struggled a lot with the fact that I couldn't fit the mud guards onto mine as the hole sheered through at some point in its life. Meant that the rear windows / back got really mucky very quickly in the winter.

I’m surprised there’s no reference to the most famous of Ignis owners “Chunj” https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Ever since I first set eyes on a Naples yellow ignis sport near my parents I’ve longed to own one. Sadly until I win the euro millions I’ll carry on dreaming.
Great read op!

Hi thanks for response.
Only interesting thing happening this weekend was old wheels were sold so more funds to the kitty.
I've got bumpers to fit when I pick them up
Squib ring to fit
Rear gearbox mount
Poly bushes for anti roll bar
Wet sand and Polish headlights
Strip, clean and regrease brakes
Oil change for engine and gearbox
Remove front fog light switch, relay and wiring
All will be done in no particular order as and when I get the chance. Hopefully get some more progress done this week

New toy turned up yesterday had a play today good bit of kit.
Good and bad news today.
Good.... Did oil and filter change, no bits stuck to magnetic sump plug and fitted my retrofit aero wipers.
Bad.... My three month old ball joint is hanging off. Serves me right for buying cheap. It's under warranty from euro car parts. I've ordered two genuine suspension arms from suzuki. Retail at 72+vat each but he's done me a good deal as I've spent alot of money there in last three months. He doesn't want me to tell everyone how much. But I will say it's same price as two snide ones from euro.
Splitter paid for today so should be posted in the morning, Jap plates being ordered some time next week

Gave the car a wash at weekend
Then stripped squib ring down and replaced it with a working item so horn and airbag are now fully functional.
Car repayed me by snapping the rear exhaust hanger off on way home tonight so that's being welded back on tomorrow.
Also ordered some powerflex bushes for the arb while it's off when I do the arms

Quick update
Exhaust was warmed up and bent away from rear suspension.
New genuine arms and poly bushes made there way onto the car
Also got the alignment adjusted after the suspension had been apart. Made a massive difference to how the car rides and handles as the front wheels aren't tripping over each other.
Aux belt was squealing a little tonight in good weather. I'll give it a adjust tomorrow and order a new one up soon

Long time no update.
Been having problems with the car destroying bottom ball joints. Think finally solved it today the car runs a threaded hub and the pinch bolt tightens into this. The bolt tightens up with the weight off the car but as soon as you put weight on it. You can see the bolt pull back through maybe 1mm. Resulting in play at ball joint. Anyway took a drill to it today drilled through and used a longer pinch bolt with deeper thread and a nylock nut. Going to recheck early next week.
Had a hoard of parts stashed but decided to sell them off this past month. Made a substantial amount which I wasn't expecting.
Also been modifying lights which I seem to have a waiting list for now.
Ill eventually get round to fitting a set to mine.
Did what's called a resenator delete on the Airbox for no other reason than looks a bit fresher and my Airbox was damaged
Also hel had a deal 40% off so ordered a fresh set of braided hoses so I can get rid of my pink ones in the car!
Car continues to regular deliver over 300 miles to around 32 litres of fuel which given the performance is I think pretty good running costs.

Thanks not everyone's cup of tea but the car leaves a lasting impression just can't seem to commit to getting rid always come back to it and maintain/improve the next area while still keeping it user friendly and reliable for the daily grind
I've just bought my first suzuki (swift) for track use. Driven them before but they are great. Just struggling to find decent track 15" wheels!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
