1978 Lancia Beta 1600 Coupe
Discussion
The Beta Badge has emerged, and is at present tucked in on the rear shelf behind the sun-damaged rear headrests . The 1600 badge is still buried. The Beta badge has a matte finish.
Badge and car have been at a garage for a week, but, as expected, the garage has been maxed out, so the car hasn't yet been touched by spannerwhackers.
I have been making some enquiries about upholstery repairers.

Such a nice car.
Back in 1988 I had a black 1600 HPE and I loved the thing. I found it really comfortable and the engine was great. Sadly it was an auto though and the clutch bands started playing up. It then got rear ended by a builder in a P100 one Sunday morning. He pretended we'd pull over and did a runner. Unfortunately for him he left his front number plate at the scene. It was written off by the insurer and the pay out was double what I had paid.
Mine looked beautiful in black but love yours just as much.

Cheers! I really like the colour, and the paint is in good nick. I cannot wait to test the Lancia against the 1970s hotty Fiat that I've been smoking around in lately. Then all I need is a 70s Alfa....
PS: I am glad that Karma bit the dodgy builder on the ass, but am sorry that your Beta died in the course of his education as to why it's not cool to be a scumbag.

Wasn't the Hi-Fi a local (as in UK-importer) organised effort with help from Tickford to sprinkle showroom glitter on a load of new unsold Betas that had been stored outside [in fields?] in the UK for an extended period and had consequently gone a bit "off"? Apologies if I have misremembered this. There were some 200 or so Beta’s stored at or near the south coast and this exercise was undertaken to shift them....
It turned out badly.
A wise friend points out that indecision is a decision. Because, as he rightly says, there is a default state.
So..., no.
If anyone might be interested in an interesting mid 70s small Alfa that has many plus points but (of course) some bad ones, PM me and I can point you towards the advert that drew my attention (but not my wallet on this occasion).

Ref the Hi Fi edition. I had no 151, it literally rusted before my eyes, anything metal failed, even the seat spings rusted & collapsed at three years old.
That's possible if they were stored outdoors too close to the sea.I lived right on the coast for around 10 years, and the rate of rottage on everything was appalling.
I moved the Ducati indoors, but still rusted (like the fridge). I ended up keeping it on a friend's farm 20 km inland.
The car just rotted to death.

The right decision....probably.So..., no.

Ideally stuff grabs you and you just know it’s right for you.
Wish I’d followed this advice a few times mind.....

Maybe one of the few remaining 1300s? Pre Facelift, probably.I know what you mean about things grabbing you. I am usually very clear on whether I want to buy a car, although of course I tend to talk myself into it far too readily. Nobody except me has ever sold me a car, if you see what I mean. The doubt and indecision as to the Alfa were probably a rare outbreak of sense. Maybe better to regret not buying than to buy and then regret that.
