My dad's (formerly my grandad's) Beta 2000 Coupe, nut and bold restoration/restomod. AP calipers, 037 inspired Braid one-offs alloys, engine and suspension have been fettled with a bit too It used to be a automatic, but now supports a 5-speed manual 'box.
Love it !!Edited by vincegail on Wednesday 16th December 20:28

That looks interesting - I have vague plans for something similar to a VX. What spec were the wheels made to (I assume 16", but offset, width?)
Some digging has revealed the dimensions of the wheels: 3-Piece BL 7X16" 4X98X58.1 ET30Edited by vincegail on Thursday 17th December 10:47
Love these things. My dad had two of the Coupe's before getting an HPE which he sold to me before moving on to a BMW. I smoked around in it for a couple of years until my business partner took it on a euro trip and blew the engine because he didn't put any oil in it. It was quite thirsty mind.
Only down side I remember was there was quite a lot of wind noise when cruising on the motorway. Other wise the HPE was a great motor. Hugely practical, great looking and a bit of a performer in its day. A bit prone to rust mind.

Thanks, its always good to get this info - there aren't many around, and even fewer where people have mods that work. It's always useful to get some numbers when something fits well like that. There are some slightly odd suspension clearance issues on the Beta (I think bigger diameter wheels clear them without having to stick out so far. It's best not to have to deviate too far from the standard offset (ET34)Edited by vincegail on Thursday 17th December 10:47

'200ie' typo. From memory isn't it £15K?Breadvan72 said:

Very nice indeed. Any info on the engine fettling please?
Just asked my dad, but his memory has gone a bit blank on this one. The engine was done by a tuner in England, about 20 years ago (somebody here might know which tuner was the one to go to in that time, but he hasn't got a clue) and was claimed to have 160 horses. It was put on the dyno a few years ago and it had 161 horses, so he was not screwed in that department Very nice indeed. Any info on the engine fettling please?
