Brakes are not an item to scrimp on. Money spent on braking is reassuring, I find.
I also find OEM stuff best.

Those discs are unacceptable, especially given the blatant cover photo showing a better looking solution.

Assuming you can send those parts back, Compbrake in the UK do an excellent disc upgrade solution for £450+VAT. Get in touch with them.

Might be worth taking screenshots from his website too, just in case...

I've returned them to him. I'll wait for my refund minus the re-stocking fee then speak to my bank about it and start a small claims case if need be. A company that sells this type of product is only selling to car enthusiasts like us, I can't understand why he would rather the damage to his reputation and have to spend time fighting a case against him.

I have taken screenshots of his website, our conversation and his terms and conditions as I can imagine him changing the website.

I can't find any discs on the compbrake website for a Boxster.

Have you tried Godspeed? They might have something suitable for your application.

Try reyland motorsport. I know they make quite a few brake kits.

They're not online, send them and email. Were very helpful for me.

Let him know that you will also be approaching his local Trading Standards office with the evidence of the discs not being fit for purpose and with his illegal terms and conditions (he can't use terms and conditions to cancel out legal rights). No trader wants Trading Standards poking around their business or their business methods.

Thank you everyone for the advise around returning the brakes. I've had an email from the company saying they've refunded me the full amount.

I've had another look at the air to water charge cooler system, it wasn't working correctly on the dyno and then I ripped a hole in a pipe that runs under the car. I moved the pump to the lowest point in the system and put it after the radiator at the front rather than before (pumping cooler water should increase it's life). I ran the pipes that go under the car through the middle where the engine coolant pipes are, they are tucked out of the way so i'll have no issues damaging them now (there is a full length under tray that covers all the pipes). I'm convinced it's properly bled now, I removed the bleed screw on then top of the radiator with the pump running, there was nothing, nothing then an eruption of water and the sound the pump makes changed. I used to see air coming ouf the the pipes and going into the tank when the pump would run, now I don't. I hope these changes make the difference, I expect they will but I've learnt not to get my hopes up too much.

With the brakes, for the time being I've chucked on the 996 calipers and a set of Boxster S discs I had in the garage, they are rusty but should clean up fine with a bit of use. I've already got the ball rolling on sorting out a future brake upgrade.

Thank you.

One issue with the Recaro seats was the bolsters coming away at the side, it's a common issue. According to the internet Recaro will send you out the clips to repair them free of charge but they didn't respond to my email so I bought the clips from a website, cost me £20 for 6 clips, probably 5p each if you know exactly what they are.

That's how the bolster was when I bought the seats.

They weren't easy to fit, I found it easiest to clip them onto the edge of the material and then push them into the channel on the side to hold them in place.

All clipped back in place. Had to do this on both sides.

Whilst working doing something in the car I accidentally put the headlight washers on. One headlight washer decided to leak, it was like a siphon where it basically just drained all of my water/methanol concoction, I lost about 3 litres. It shouldn't have an issue with the methanol as it's used in screenwash, I think it's just age.

String alignment to get me half close. I'll take it for a proper alignment soon.

This is the rear arch as standard with the wheels poking out more than I want.

Cheap and nasty arch roller, it didn't fit 5x130 so I had to modify the hub mount to make it work.

It did the job, folded back the arch lip nicely but it's hardwork to flare the arch as the metal is pretty thick, especially now the lip is folded up. They are flared but it's quite subtle, probably out about 10mm.

Some photos of it out of the garage for the first time since the suspension, wheels and seats. I gave it a wash, the bodywork it horrific, every panel has a dent, scratch, lacquer peel or all 3. It's faded pink in places but there is no point doing anything about that. The headlights need polishing, some numpty sprayed lacquer on them. The front number plate is missing because the car had rolled forward in the garage and I opened up my electric garage door without noticing and it ripped off the number plate plinth. I don't think the wheels photograph that well but they look better in the flesh.

It's just ticked over to 100k miles. I started the engine swap with it on exactly 98600 miles so it's done 1400 Audi powered miles. Hopefully this year I can get some decent usage out of it.

It's got an Odyssey race battery fitted and I think that's died. I charge it on the correct type of charger, it show's 12.v volts but won't start the car and drops back to 11.5v. Every time I start it I need to jump start it. I've run the car for an hour and the battery holds no charge, don't even get a click from the starter motor it's that flat. I think there could be a voltage drop issue somewhere that's not helping so I need to do some testing as my battery I jump start with drops to 8v while cranking.

While we are in the lock down I'm half tempted to try my hand at wrapping it.

Can you try a battery off another car ?
It might diagnose if that one is toast, or something else.

Are you charging it, isolated from the car ?
It's helped with my bikes in the past.

It sounds like you've also bought something you weren't happy about?

I took it for an alignment. Initially wanted to go to kwikfit as they've got the hunter alignment but they didn't want to know, they told me they'd only set it up to the specs on the computer and not what I wanted. Seems odd, I think they just couldn't be arsed.

I found a local company that could do it. The owner seemed to be a bit of an oddball and seemed to take an instant dislike to me. I'm not sure why exactly, either my face or he doesn't like modified cars or he doesn't like Porsche's. Once it was up in the air he asked me who'd done the welding on the exhaust, I tell him me and he proceeded to tell me it was st. I know it's not particularly pretty, it's mig welded and they never look great but it's fine. I'm not sure why a tyre place feel they need to pass judgement on it in the first place, not like i'm taking my car to him for fabrication. Especially odd that he asked who did it and decided to slag it off to my face anyway. He's obviously a bit of a prick.

Luckily he fked off and the bloke that did the alignment was sound. He'd built a Beetle with a Legacy turbo engine in it.

Now the alignment was done I could put my foot down for the first time since the dyno. One pull and the inlet temperatures went straight from 27 degrees to 57 degrees so it's safe to say the charge coolers aren't sorted. There is air in the system again, I can tell but that's not the issue, the charge coolers are cold to the touch, they'd be hot if the coolant wasn't circulating through them properly. I think it's probably there isn't enough surface area inside them. The coolant was cold still. I'm going to switch to some OEM charge coolers they seem better designed, i'll trawl ebay for options, any suggestions welcome (ideally 2.5" boost pipes and not physically huge as I need one per side).
