Nice hard top procured. Wrong colour, but will be painted when the car is painted in the next few weeks...

I've got a leather handbrake gaitor lying around if you want to match the gear lever gaitor? Yours for postage if you want it, my old one is long gone.

Ed, can you still see a profit in all this? Admire the lengths you're going to..

Do you have an idea of what sort of price you'll be looking for? I've had a mk4 and mk2.5 so I only need to try a mk1 and 3 to complete the collection. I'd have another mk2 if the chassis rails weren't made of chocolate.

It's not going to be a "cheap mk1", that is for sure!

45k, 1.8is, full (and I mean very full) service history, zero rust, mechanically spot on, new mohair hood, newly retrimmed leather seats. I reckon the paint is better than it was when it came out of the factory!

It's certainly better than previous owner's efforts going on your description before you took it to be sprayed. I'll keep watch until you come up with a price and in the meantime try to justify theoretical ownership of two two-seaters. Doesn't help that apart from black that green is one of my favourite colours for a car!

Unless it's never been on UK roads, or just had the subframes out for a full underneath restoration they'll be rust somewhere...

Thanks for your input. I'm sure there will be, but nothing in the slightest bit worth being concerned about, absolutely none on the bodywork in the usual weak spots of the Mk1, and a faultless MOT history without any advisories for rust with the exception of the exhaust. Which has been replaced by a quality Stainless steel product in the last 100 miles smile

Thanks. Really pleased with the finish that Auto Curators have achieved it looks better than a factory finish!
