Heater fan will be the "hedgehog" resistor, you can access it by removing the glovebox. Easy enough job to do and super common weak spot on E36s
Exactly this ^^ the fan isnt dead, will most definently be the "Hedgehog", you may even notice that it all fires up ok in a day or so.

I should never have read this thread - now I find myself wanting one of these!

An I right in thinking some of them had an LSD fitted?
If I remember rightly, pre facelift cars usually had an LSD, but they also had the dreaded Nikasil engine so you'd want to see evidence of that having been replaced at some point.

If the car has DSC it generally doesn't have the LSD as that replaced it for some stupid reason.

Only LSD from factory was pre facelift 328 Sport without ASC which received 2.93 ratio for manual and 3.07 for automatic.

Additionally, pre the facelift 328 Sport you could option an LSD for almost all models (diff casing increases in size with the engine increments).

Best mod I did to a 328 touring was to fit a 3.15 LSD from a 1994 325i!
