JDM Subaru Legacy Blitzen
Discussion
Awesome looking piece of kit - I run a UK 3.0rn saloon as a second car, and wasn't aware that they made a Gen 4 Blitzen. I did look at a few JDM Gen 3 TT saloons a few years back, but most were barried beyond belief. If I ever feel the urge to chop the 3.0 in....Hmmm (off to classifeds).

shame, don't suppose you know the part number of the STI unit? I'm wondering it it will fit an H6 Spec B
MB developments usually have these for about £25:https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...
So I was going to get one and give it a go. I'm working on the theory that subaru like to re-use components wherever possible.

This is a single turbo twinscroll. It's basically the same as a GT spec b, but with a lot of the options ticked. So, nice leather interior, complicated Japanese ICE, and 18" blitzen wheels, mats, kick plates and seats. As a recent import it's spotless underneath plus doesn't have loads of dodgy mods. Yet.

I paid slightly less than advertised due to the issues I found when it arrived.
If you're interested in a leggy then keep an eye on the uk legacy for sale board, a lot of very well priced cars turn up on there...

Are u selling your WRX wagon? I might be interested in that to be honest. http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/index.php/topic/145...

Shame
I've always fancied one, I have a huge soft spot for Subaru.
A WRX is probably too small for me, I've got 3 kids to ship around. Your thread has introduced me to the older legacy cars.
Just a automatic one would do me fine. Ones similar to yours seem to be nearly ten grand! Huge money.
Hoping to spend 4 or 5 tops.

Keep an eye on the uk legacy for sale board, normally nothing turns up for weeks then suddenly 3 or 4 at the same time.
I alays think of this period (2006-2007) as the last really good one for subaru. At that time they were still producing the 2.0 engined newage Imprezas, the Forester STi and various fast Legacys. There is not much in their current line up that compares.

I do like the new stuff for what it is, but they are all diesel.I alays think of this period (2006-2007) as the last really good one for subaru. I love the new WRX STI. If I could afford one I would buy one brand new and keep it forever.

I'd love one too. I know the golf type R, various Audi RS, BMW M and AMG mercedes models are all faster and probably better cars most of the time, but they don't have the presence and character of the Subaru. I love the new WRX STI. If I could afford one I would buy one brand new and keep it forever.
But it would have to be a 2.0 engined JDM. Too many horror stories about the 2.5. Unless I found one with a borked engine and then could have it forged...

Good hear that it will probably fit. My intention was to fit some poly bushes to the rack at the same time (they're not pressed in so fairly easy to change) so I'd have the rack loose anyway, which should give more wiggle room. Just need to be careful I don't put anything out of alignment. Cambs_Stuart said:
I gave the leggy a quick jet wash to get rid of the salt and grime. Not looking too bad for an old high mileage daily driver.
Now the snow has gone I'll have to get back to work sorting out the list of jobs...
Still good looking cars, much better than the Gen 5 that followed. As an aside, the Blitzen name was attached to special versions with the 3.0 H6 over here, rather than the 2.0T, and all were bright red - looks surprisingly good on a wagon body too - don't come up for sale often. Now the snow has gone I'll have to get back to work sorting out the list of jobs...
Burning oil smell you noticed when in traffic - have you checked the OSF driveshaft gaiter? Had this problem on my 05 GT - flicking gunk onto either the turbo housing or the exhaust - didn't notice whilst driving along as the smell just wafted away under the car.

I haven't, thanks for the tip. I was using a borescope at the weekend to try to work out where the oil smell was coming from and the rocker covers looked OK. When it's warm enough to be crawling around underneath I'll check the cv joints/gaiters. Burning oil smell you noticed when in traffic - have you checked the OSF driveshaft gaiter? Although recently the oil smell has reduced. It may have all been due to the turbo to intercooler pipe.
Just a quick update. One job off the to-do list.
The o/s rear door had a series of dents in it, above the waste line. Oddly they didn't look like car park dings, more like someone had punched it.
I've also re-drilled the holes in the avo mounts ready for fitting:

Few more jobs off the to do list, thanks to Tim Farmer.
Firstly a huge pile of parts from ICP and euro car parts.
New brake pads and discs. Braided hoses, rocker cover gaskets, cambelt, rollers, water pump and a power steering pump from a member of uklegacy.com who was breaking their car.
Once Tim got to work it was apparent where the hot oil smell was coming from.
It wasn't plain sailing. The water pump supplied from ICP was the wrong variety, and the brake pads were all too small. Thankfully the cambridge branch of euro car parts isn't too far away so I managed to get the correct pump and pads
Plus the braided hoses were wrong. So, I've got a few packages to return.
While Tim was changing the rocker covers he noticed the breather pipes were very hard and starting to crack, so they'll need replacing soon.
However, now the hot oil smell has gone, the power steering is silent and the brakes are fantastic.
Now the to do list is.
1. Fit avo mounts.
2. New breather pipes
3. Sort out high idle speed when cold.
4. Sti steering knuckle.
5. Powerflex camber kit.

Just had to fix an oozing cv joint that was flicking grease onto the turbo! Thanks for the tip. Burning oil smell you noticed when in traffic - have you checked the OSF driveshaft gaiter?
