Great thread. Can't believe how quickly you are cracking on with it.
What did you use to remove the underseal and sticky mess?
Yes really want the car done by end of April latest as it will be in the way, but on the plus side I can spend all day every day on the project if I have too, hoping just Monday to Friday ...What did you use to remove the underseal and sticky mess?
As much as I would like to take the credit that has to go to Colin in fairness, wasn't a lot of underseal but inside the car and engine bay had been painted with Matt black paint from a tin, worse was the glue that holds the headlining.
He used old fashioned elbow grease and a small sanding wheel I believe.
Horrible Job

Interesting to see this. I very nearly bid on the car on eBay a few weeks back but from the photos in the ad the shell looked a bit far gone. At £2500 it looks a good buy now though.
Not sure what car your on about but car was never on eBay this car is the genuine 72 Hartwell car bought last August in Germany with full paperwork and can assure you it was nowhere near £2500There is an old thing on eBay currently in similar colours ???

It must have been another car then. As I thought, your car looks much better than the eBay car. It was for sale on eBay in Germany in August, same colours, same ownership history and sold at opening bid. You could see the floor, sills etc were totally gone which put me off. I kept it on my watch list for a week or two after ending in the hope some of the other better cars discovered were listed (there were other Imp racers at the same location).
Maybe they made two and the rough one was sold through eBay. I didn't mean to offend but it was definitely a Hartwell Imp in precisely the same colours. Even used ETCC photos in the listing and looked to be a 100% genuine listing.

Just to confirm that 3 cars were found in Germany. Neither the Hartwell or Bevan car ever went on open sale or eBay.
The third car was built by Detlef Hendricks and also has race history and is currently got sale.
Is that still for sale? If so can you tell me where it is advertised? The third car was built by Detlef Hendricks and also has race history and is currently got sale.

I remember Ray Payne at Hartwells Holdenhurst rd Bournemouth checking out my 1959 Sunbeam Alpine which I wanted tuned only too be told it needed new rockers & tappets first. Didn't proceed by blagged a Hartwell Tuning sticker for the windscreen. Wish I had kept it for my concours 1962 Alpine KYD 899 which I ran during the 1980's & '90's
