Guys, So not the end of the story by any means but now unlikely to have the car out until next year unless for display at one of the indoor shows.

Plan for next year is to run the car at Spa classic event, but its silly money to enter that one so will see, other UK events are Silverstone classic and Donnington and from memory one or two others but my drivers job to sort that bit out.

Will keep you informed as to the cars journey but for now she's tucked up with the jet wash and snow skis and next years slicks :-)

As i mentioned above I have another project to keep me busy over winter and will start a new thread ........ Hartwell SubaImp

So, Car is still sat in hibernation as per the above photo, sadly due to this terrible virus the plans we had to race it this year are obviously on hold, hoping to at least be able to get it on track if we are allowed maybe Aug / Sep who knows.

Only real update is I picked up a set of period correct Revolutions that need a refurb.

Little update, looks like we maybe doing Goodwood outing on the 4th July ....... as always all welcome but please check with Goodwood direct as to the spectator policy in force .......... If I don't take this car I will do my best to post here before the event.

I dragged the car out of the garage in order to fit those longer wheel studs, sadly I couldn't as need a 14mm drill.

I also wanted to try on the revolutions as they are a fraction smaller offset to the BBS, and I wanted to see what they look like with 21 inch tyres as we are currently running 20 .....

I lost the front sunbeam badge last time out so found and fitted a replacement ...

Few pictures below.

That's looking really smart.

A quick question about your new badges if I may, are they a standard off the shelf product or were they made for you?
They look like the same sort of badge as the Jaguar head which acts the boot release button on my X300 and which fell off and was lost a few years ago and doesn't show up on the parts list. So I was wondering whether the people who made your Sunbeam badge might be able to make me a Jaguar one.
Sorry for the delay .... I got them off of eBay, I just searched sunbeam badge and they came up, they are actually wheel centre badges not that I can think of any sunbeam fitted with them.
They are a soft resin plastic.
The seller gave me the option of almost any size ......... looks like he does Jag ones ....... I have no connection to seller

That looks great. Two tone paint jobs were a big thing until the early 80s (?) and some cars really suit it. Now the trend is for stupidly oversized black wheels, which just look naff.. On that note, these weren’t the wheels I expected to see on this (was thinking Revolution 4 or 5 spokes or Cosmics) but they suit it well.
As the car was originally built for a German client I assume he had either BBS connections or sponsorship.
I have no idea if you could even get BBS in the UK back in the day, but when they did start to get used the cost of them was crazy, even now I paid £170 for one outer rim .....
As per somewhere near the beginning of the thread, the original wagonpass shows BBS fitted, and when we rescued the car it had them as well.

Hi Rob, sorry I don't check this thread very often at the moment, can't wait to get something out on track again, I'm still waiting Subaimp tank so looking doubtful it will be that.
Please check here as currently Goodwood has a no spectator / guest policy.

direct message me your mobile number if you want.

Going to try these on the Revolutions as they are a fraction narrower than the BBS

They look great. Can I ask who did the refurb? I have some rims I need doing for the 02.

Assume that's pallet wrap protecting the slicks?
Hi Mark, I got the same fella to powder coat them as did the rest of the bits for me CSP in borough green kent, his a good lad.
As with the BBS I really didn't want a polished or chrome looking rim on a racer it just looks wrong to me so went for the gunmetal finish, I will at some point paint the centres gold to mimic the BBS rims but it looks like I will have to paint by hand or get my painter to mask for me and then use a tin.

Yes I think so they were on them when I bought but serves a purpose of keeping the grit off of them when moving around.

Well we did get down there today but I took the decision not to take the car out due to only having slicks and awful weather conditions, the risk v reward simply not worth it, we were also very lucky in that we were able to switch our booking to another date in the future.

We intend to be there with the car this coming Friday the 31st July

Small update, we managed to run the car last Friday the 31st July for a few sessions, point of the day was to run the car on the old slicks on the BBS wheels and then back to back V the new slicks on the revolutions, sadly we had some fitment issues with the different wheel bolts needed for the revolutions, resulting in them cross threading and having to be cut off back at the workshop ....... a great day our non the less
