Got to love the 60/70’s advertising

I was at Brands last week taking my ARDS test, and saw you testing the car. It looked terrific. I took only a few pictures of cars while I was there, but your Imp was in most of them.

That does look GOOD!
Some memories coming back there - especially the mention of Georgi Longdon the Team Hartwell secretary. I dealt with her when I bought a new wet-liner 998cc block and pistons and bronze gear oil pump back in 1974.

Re 'race proven' SKF bearings, I well remember those packages, and I wouldn't worry about them not being race-proven, I'd say they have been well proven, in many applications inc racing. Founded in 1907, SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken - ie: Swedish Ball Bearing Factory!), they grew and grew to become world renowned and is still going today 114 years on!

Founder and Managing Director Sven Wingquist (left),
was the inventor of the first double-row self-aligning ball bearing in 1907.

So yeah, great heritage, great bearings!

A SKF bearing failure looks to be in the frame for the Leicester City helicopter crash.

Hi, yes they are Smiths "International Range" via Demon Tweeks available in black or chrome around £35 each plus the senders.

Thanks. Just found them and ordered a set to replace elderly VDO's.

Thanks again. There just something about cars from the 60's and 70's that I love. Obviously nostalgia plays a part but the designs just seem more concerned with a pleasing aesthetic that is missing (for me) from more modern cars post mid 80's.

Hoping may get to see your Imp in the flesh at some point. You've done such a good job and it's a cracking car. Is it as much fun (to drive) as it looks?

I have only driven gently at Brands Hatch so far to test everything but yes surprised how well it stuck to the road and turned, recon will be great fun once we open the taps !

Hi Guys, as promised here are essentially the pictures of the car in its finished livery, this is exactly as the car was presented almost 47 years ago at its debut in the 1972 Tourist Trophy at Silverstone.
Will get some shots of the completed car in all its glory on track as soon as I can book something up ....
