Wow! Spindly 7/8in driveshafts by the look of it.
Upgrade to 1in ones (as fitted to Imp van etc). I thought every Imp with credibility had 1 inch driveshafts fitted. One of the first mods I ever did.
oops, look at the time!
Nite nite. Time for the owl's bed.

Fantastic find.
How did you manage to find these two cars in Germany what's the back story to how you found them how come they are so well preserved.
I will let Mr Bevan tell the story on how we found them. How did you manage to find these two cars in Germany what's the back story to how you found them how come they are so well preserved.
They are totally mint bearing in mind they have sat in a dry garage for the last 42 years !
Having pulled mine apart I can confirm that it is absolutely rot free .... unbelievable really.
Its off to the Imp metal / chassis specialist on friday but hardly anything needs doing.

Brilliant thanks ..... just down the road as wellSpent many years looking for the original Bevan IMP only to find a picture on facebook of something which looked like the car in Germany.
Was 50/50 that it was a Bevan car but took the gamble and drove to Germany with PKJ armed with money and a trailer !!!
From my first look, it was the car as it had trademark Bevan bits all over the car. Bought it being 90% sure but still had that 10% of doubt. Went through hundreds of pictures and linked all the pictures from Bill McGovern driving it in the Silverstone TT race to Hans Sauer and then to Wolfgang Rische.
It was one of three IMPs which all had similar history and I managed to convince PKJ that he had to buy the Hartwell.
Both are the real deal with documented history. I have a copy of every race my car has entered from 72 to 79 including records of every lap time in the BTCC and European race series.
Cant be many cars which have true history like these .......
Sadly both cars were only being sold as Wolfgang Rische had passed away. Picture showing the cars in period being raced in Germany.

AGS, who supply the splits on my M3, may well be able to put you in touch with someone able to get some spun for you?
Could these help?

Great that you found them in such original and save'able condition, two fantastic little cars to get back on track in the UK, shame to hear they only came up after Herr Rische passed but he looks to have done a great job of keeping them intact orignal and safe all those years. Was 50/50 that it was a Bevan car but took the gamble and drove to Germany with PKJ armed with money and a trailer !!!

It's amazing when racing cars like this re-appear or get discovered, a similar story on TNF's recently with Geoff Woods Hart Escort Mk1 being found un touched since the 70's (sadly needs lots more work than this pair of Imps).

My Favourite Imp from the 80's was Tony Bridge's special saloon Hartwell Maguire Imp, he brought it up to Ingliston and it was way ahead of any other Imp special saloon at the time, I think it then became the Drambui Imp but not sure.
Couple of pics of it racing in 85 and spinning into Arena corner:
