That is a seriously cool Accord, have you run it around Castle Combe? I did a few track days there last year with a lot of Hondas on an there were a couple of red Accords that were going very well :-)

I'll either get my friend to do it (Sandy Brown) or Rich at Performance Autoworks. Rich mapped a DC2 that we run at Castle Combe with good results.

Who did you use?
Mate of mine runs a EP3 with a Rotrex kit that Rich at P.A built but I believe the final mapping was done by TDI North, his car runs around 360hp and does indeed behave like VTEC+++ as it spins to 9k with ease in every gear* (he also has Mfactory 3-6 gears, lower FD an Kazz diff to)

Thanks mate.

Yes, Castle Combe is my local circuit so I do a lot there. After the engine is in I'd like to take it to Brands and Donnington, possibly Silverstone if it's full circuit, the National loop I find a bit boring.

Trap door baffle unit arrived for the sump. I'm happy with the design.

Competition Clutch Lightened flywheel.

And the Mfactory Plated LSD.

Awaiting the clutch kit and supercharger kit and come January I'm ready to go.

Nice. Shiny bits are always good.

I need an LSD.

New parts days are always good!! Just don't tally up the costs...

Yup, LSD makes a big difference. Took the opportunity to drive my Supercharged Prelude without one first and quickly had an MFactory fitted, it made a huge difference accelerating out of corners and allowed me to actually get on the power mid turn smile That was just their standard affair, not a plated diff or anything. I do miss that car, it was a lot of fun!

Mudgey - I sent you an email via your PH profile regarding the mounts, did you receive?

I haven't but its my fault, I can't update my email address on PH so PM's go to an old email account I no longer have access to. If you go to t7design.co.uk you can find my email at the top of the website home page.

Nice OP! The Accord Type R is a handsome looking car, one I have hankered after for years but never bought.

I am sure it will be epic with the supercharger!

The stage 4 clutch has finally got here but still awaiting the supercharger kit.

Workshop almost ready after a winter refurb, I'm on holiday now until 19th Feb so hoping to have the K20 out of the EP3 in two weeks.

End of March should see completion, just the driveshafts to sort now.

Tracknuts.

I’m sorry but ps off ! !. I nearly purchased a Honda Accord type r before my mk2 mr2 again before my merc and again before my octavia vrs back in the day and never did (closest I got was a standard 1.8 sport model), and I’ve always thought what if.

Now not only do you have one you are making even more interesting. God damn you !

Keep the updates a coming

I'm totally gutted.

Ordered the supercharger kit last November, it arrived yesterday, 4 months of waiting.

I ordered a bottom mount kit for a non AC car. This was ordered from Company 1, who then ordered a top mount AC kit from Company 2 by mistake.

Trying to resolve now. I'm hoping it's not another 4 month wait. I'll miss half the season otherwise.

Oh dear! That’s annoying! Who did you order from?

I assume it’s a TTS kit?

That's annoying, hopefully you'll get a replacement soon for the K.

The old H22 also gets plenty of love and lots of boost too! Have you seen the BoostedBoiz channel on Youtube?

Some really good fun stuff on there.

Yes a TTS kit but ordered wrong from Company 1.

I had debated building a high revving H22A7 but with the FRM liners it's difficult to find someone that can hone them, plus I'm limited to one choice of piston, Mahle Gold. My only choice really was to sleeve it but then the cost shoots up in terms of £/bhp.

I've never fancied the turbocharger route. So I thought supercharged and the parts catalogue for the K20 is massive, so it's a no brainer.

I get some flack off Accord Type-R owners for getting rid of the H22 but each to their own.

I'm struggling to see what advantage supercharging gives these days, unless packing / heat is an issue, like an Elise. Going Turbo with the H22 layout would have worked well.

With modern turbos and management, lag / response is not an issue, parituciarly at the lower boost pressures that would compare to most supercharged setups You won't ever be at low revs on track either.

You get greater efficiency and torque which can be useful, allowing a higher gear to be run on track if needed. The Hondata will do boost by gear and the ability to turn the boost up / down from the cockpit can be useful too. I.e. if it's raining or for endurance.

S/c cars can be dam thirsty beasts on track, so you will need to carry more fuel. The belt can be troublesome at high revs for long periods and your pistons / rods / crank etc are having to work harder to drive the supercharger. And then there is the separate oil cooling setup needed for the Rotrex.

I agree with all the points you make. But my main reasoning was cost. The K20 requires no internal engine work for a linear 400bhp in return.

If I was to turbo, yes I'd end up with a larger area under the curve but the engine would need to be forged, adding ££££. Five years ago I would have gone turbo maybe, but with a new house and a new baby, my budget for cars has taken a squeeze.

I love Honda's because of the way the rev and the way they demand to be driven, a supercharger for me keeps that characteristic.

I have a modified big turbo 530d that feeds my torque needs.
