In a sea of Civics being K swapped its nice to see someone giving the Accord some attention.

Should be quite a machine when you're done, I will watch/read with interest.

Drip feeding is much more fun. A pic a day keeps the doctor away.

Donor engine is out now. EP3 looking rather sorry for itself, but need to shift the good bits from it and get rid of the shell.

Next step is to extract the loom from the dash, for some odd reason the oxygen sensors are part of the main body loom whereas everything else engine related is in the engine loom direct to the ecu. Anyway, a few hours of tracing and extraction and I should have everything I need to rebuild a new loom for the Accord.

And also purchased a Race Technology Dash2 Pro with GPS to replace the standard cluster.

A small update, gave it a quick clean before going into the garage for the last time.

Then got to work, last photos of the H22A7 in the car.

Then slotted the K20 to see how it lines up. Got lots of adjustments, cuts, fabs and welds to make. But so far the room is good and seems there will be no big problems.

Any updates on this? Are there any off the shelf conversion parts for this swap?

I’ve owned two Accord type R’s in the past and really liked them. Never see the likes of them again.
Question
Could you have just supercharged the HA7?

That's what I call a proper track car build, superb. Always preferred the Accord to the Civic.

No off the shelf stuff available no. I'm currently trying to make some Prelude mounts work.

Car goes off to have its cage on the 27th April.

When it returns the list looks like:

1. Build the fuel system
2. Delete the ABS and run new brake lines
3. Send dash for flocking
4. Wire in Race Technology Dash2 Pro
5. Mount intercooler
6. New timing chain and guides
7. Fit baffled sump, flywheel and clutch
8. Fit plated LSD to box
9. Build button/switch unit with separate relay box
10. Get custom decat pipe made to mate K20 manifold to Accord system.
11. Mapping
12. Testing

You can yes, but as the engine is on the NS you would need a double sided belt setup, not ideal. But more importantly you won't see 400bhp on a stock engine and compression ratio. The K20 is ideal in that respect.

Yep, unlike some of the closed deck H22A's that have masses of potential with Mahle pistons, it's just not worth building one for boost.

ahah, those engine mounts look familiar wink

I cant remember actually seeing the whole car in the photo's you sent me but it looks really smart, the subtle details give it that purposeful stance!

Great to see this project. I'm on my second ATR (sold the first one and then regretted it so bought another!) but these have always been under-rated cars in my book. Spot on about the balance and handling, I used to have an EP3 back in the day the ATR is the better car imo.

Even completely standard the ATR is great on track, LSD, enough power, predictable wheelbase and no understeer. Cracking thing.

Fabulous looking project. Love the ATR and often at Castle Combe with mine. Yours is a serious step on...when are you at Combe next?

Had an ATR for 4 years, great car for driving and handling is brilliant for a saloon but the reliability wasn’t great, the old H22 is a good engine though but I don’t think longevity like the usual Honda standards is their strong point or maybe it was just mine. Before any engine changes, rust is a major issue so just for anyone thinking to buy one, they rust like anything everywhere. Fair play for doing something different with a K20.

With only a week to go until it goes off for the roll cage, the engine is back out and all doors and windscreen out.

Just the rear screen, seats and dashboard to come out now and it's ready to go.
