Seats in the first build are awesome. Great trim.

The thing that always impressed me about the LupoGTi was how refined and grown up it felt for such a small car. Proper premium feel.

But then the base price of the LupoGTi was £13000 in 2000, so the equivalent to £21k today laugh

Yes it did pop up on the TrackAddict page👍🏼

Tidying the back is on the list, not quite sure what to do with it. A half cage is on the list as well so i need to wait till that is sorted.

The first set of seats weighed 27kg each. The pole positions weighed 7kg each, so quite a saving!

lovely, always wanted a red GTI.

Roughly 7 years ago I guess I had a 1.4 sport (100bhp) lupo in red, loved it. AP coilovers, scorpian cat back, boot handle smoothed, GTI interior, new speakers. Was a very clean car.

Used to spend hours on clublupo!! ha

Is that harness bar safe?

Sorry, not meaning to say something negative and it is clear you have put a lot of work in to your car.

Harness bars bolted to seatbelt mounting points are quite common these days, seem to be pretty safe; they use the same mounts that oem seatbelts rely on and mount the harnesses parallel or close to parallel with harness holes so I can't see why they wouldn't be.

Car is looking much better now OP (but I'm old so I would say that)! laugh

I've always quite liked Lupo's, but I don't think there are many GTis about so it's good to see one getting spoilt with some quality upgrades! thumbup

Thanks, i love the look now!

As far as i’m aware there was only ever 110 made in Tornado Red, so can’t be many left on the roads now.

Yeah maybe one day i will run this on throttle bodies, don’t want to run a standalone ECU though.
To make the ITBs worthwhile you need to be thinking high comp engine with hotter cams etc- aftermarket Management then becomes a necessity!

A bolt-on gain they are not....

Exactly mate, not a route i want to go down with this engine really. I think this engine with around 160/170bhp should be good fun.

I wonder if VW engineers sat a lupo GTI and UP GTI next to each other and stood back and were genuinely happy with the progress they'd made in 17 years.

I know I wouldn't have been.

Damn you! Now you have me looking at Lupo GTI's again! And I really don't need an other car!

Yours looks lovely! The first mods weren't all to my taste, but you're coming along the right way!
I have very fond memory of my black '05 6-speed Lupo GTI. A proper little hot hatch! Mine was lowered with H&R IIRC but completely stock otherwise. I had one that was fully kitted up with heated leather seats, AAC, factory GPS, Alarm, so basically every box ticked. A really impressive piece of kit!
And as others have said, the UP! GTI really is not on par with this!

Slightly OT: Since you had me looking at Lupos, the GTI are too expensive, but I stumbled across a really cheap Lupo 1.4 16V 100 with a noisy engine apparently that I might be tempted by... I have never driven a Lupo apart my GTI, so will the 100 be a complete disappointment?

Haha sorry! Thanks for the positive comments though.

I have never driven a 1.4 either, can imagine they would still be fun but maybe lack the extra power the GTI has. I say go for it😉

The Up GTI looks promising actually, very keen to give one a go.

The 1.4 Sport (100bhp) was decent, low weight and small size meaning you could have some fun with it

Great looking car. Followed you on Insta for a while.

Does your brother have a R32 as well or maybe that is another Lupo over.

These have held their values so well and I had a TDI one for a year when younger and even thought that was great fun.

Followed this car on Club Lupo for a while now, it's absolutely stunning.

Been very lucky to own an Anthracite and now a Laser Blue GTI so it's safe to say I'm pretty attached to them. As mentioned earlier in the thread, they have such a grown-up feel for a small car which is what I love about them - the perfect daily driver.

When I had my LupoGTi, I drove my sisters Arosa 100hp - which is basically the same as the Lupo 100hp.

I was shocked at how different it felt. Gearbox, clutch, brakes, steering - all of it felt slacker, softer and less precise, despite having less miles. Alot of people overlook just how much of the LupoGTi was bespoke to the car - it wasn't just a bigger engine and different springs, it was mechanically quite different.

Aluminium panels, too!
