Thanks mate, I think it’s the best way to go with these cars!

Mine is fairly high on 123k now, but everything has been rebuilt so it’s like a new car really. Only the actual chassis is on 123.
Its great to see you go the NA route as a lot of these have been butchered in the vw scene and countless 1.8t conversions etc.

How much would you say you have spent on the improvements you have made to date ? specifically the engine work ?

Maybe ive missed it but have you looked into throttle bodies and is there anything further to gain there ?

Yeah I always wanted to stay NA, I think it suits the characteristics of the car more than the 1.8t’s.

Engine wise I’d probably say no more than a couple of grand to get it where it is.

Throttle bodies is something I would love, but you lose mid range torque which is what I love about mine. Also, any one who has ever done Throttle bodies, they tend to never be around long. The fact I can just get in mine at any time and go anywhere is what I don’t want to lose with reliability issues.

Yes i can totally understand that, it has a real clubsport vibe...

Have you had the car weighed at all ? Any plans for a roll cage or would that add back everything the car has shed ?

The car currently weighs 920kg exactly. A cage is something that’s I’ve been thinking about a lot, I’m not sure if I’d like a full cage, I think it could make it too stiff for the UK roads. A rear half cage is an option, they only weigh 25kg so it wouldn’t be too much weight back in.

I've been testing a new airbox from a company called Sprogley Motorsport the last few months. It replaced my BMC airbox which had nothing wrong with it but Sprogley got in touch and said he's sure he can make a better design than the BMC. So he sent me one out before my first Nurburgring trip this year, the car definitely had more induction noise so it was giving that placebo affect that it must be making more power lol.

Yesterday I went to where Sprogley is based and to the local dyno to test it out. We tried to make the test as fair as possible, we let the car idle for 5 mintues before we tested each filter and we done 3 runs with each. The only thing that isn't 100% accuarate is that the BMC filter wasn't brand new but it has always been cleaned and maintained properly.

We tested 5 different filters and the results were -

SM Airbox - 169.9bhp / 159.0lb/ft
SM Pro Airbox - 169.1bhp / 154lb/ft
BMC CDA - 165.8bhp / 154.7lb/ft
eBay Airbox - 165.2bhp / 154.2lb/ft
Ramair Open Cone - 163bhp / 146lb/ft (dropped down to 158bhp over 3 runs due to heatsoak)

I was rather happy myself that the car made a healthy 169bhp and 159lb/ft. That's 42bhp and 47lb/ft more than stock!

Successful day for Sprogley too, he said at the start of the day that he would be happy if it matched the figuers of the BMC because his product if about £70-£80 cheaper and is more appealing to the eye.

He vlog'd the whole day so once he edits and uploads the video, ill be sure to post it in here smile

Did this have a lightened flywheel in?

There used to be a chap on the CGTI who used to make bits. Hotgolf. When my mk2 GTi had the 2.0 8v in the best bits I put on it was his flywheel, a solid shift kit and. Solid front engine mount.

Yeah it does have a lightened flywheel, standard one is 6.5kg, lightened is 2.9kg. It probably is one of my favourite mods I have done smile

Couple of changes made to the car, I’ve been after a set of 15” ATS DTC’s for a long time now. Since they don’t make them anymore in the correct size they are very hard to come by. A set come up for sale in one of the FB pages I’m in, they were in Belgium but I had to have them, he agreed to post them. Fast forward a few days later and they are on the car, they will be getting a refurb in a month or so but I thought I’d wear out the AD08R’s they came on first.

I’ve also fitted a new exhaust from Kam Racing that I’ve been waiting for a while now. It sounds great, will leave some pictures and video’s below.

Hi, always been impressed by the continued development progress of the loop, and also looks good too. I have a Lupo Sport and also have a pair Wilwood Midilites in the garage from my old Scirocco. Can you advise what adapters are you using on the calipers and where you got them from ? Many thanks

Many thanks, I bought my original kit from Rallydesign. I couldn’t see a kit specifically for the Lupo, only Golf mk1 or mk2 ? Did they make a kit up for you ?

Latest little mod, @baf_motorsport K Brace installed, very well made and super easy to fit! Not sure if rigidity will be improved, it is bolted to the top struts and the floor but at least I can put things in the ‘boot’ and not have things flying forward.

Also, took my new favourite picture early Sunday morning! (Doing the milk run of course)

Had the wheels refurbed at Aerocoat in a fresh Silver, very happy with how they look now. Stuck a set of Michelin PS3's on for winter.

Went for a Sunday hoon this morning with the missus 9N3 Polo GTI, would of been rude not to get a few pictures!

check that the bonnet and doors are aluminium still. I think volkswizard did a video on the topic.
