I was at Players in my 205 (unfortunately not on track!), the Lupo looked like it was going well!
I've driven Goodwood and recently Anglesey again in my 205 and have to agree that they are great tracks, and that ~200bhp/ton in a fwd hatch is a great combo! Thruxton is also great if you haven't done that!
I really like the Lupo, you've kept a good amount of creature comforts to make it still drivable on the road but still fun on track - I'm going for a similar aim with the 205, although starting from the opposite end with a stripped out track car!

Nothing overly exciting has happened to the car as of late, done an evening session at Snetterton recently which was a huge success, the best the car has ever felt for sure.
I’ve just fitted the latest version of the Sprogley Motorsport airbox, this time it’s 3D printed with Carbon infused material so the finish is just incredible.
I also bought another set of wheels, I used to have a set of 15” OZ Ultraleggera’s and I always regretted selling them. Seeing them on my partners car made me want another set so I finally bought my first ever set of brand new wheels! They look amazing, wrapped in Nankang AR1’s ready for a Nürburgring trip on 23rd August for a week

I think I need to speak to Sprogley Motorsport about seeing if they can adapt one of these air boxes for my swift as starting to get to hot on summer days now. How many sets of wheels do you have now lol
I’m sure he can do something for you, drop them a message!Only 3 sets now haha!
Back from another very successful Nürburgring trip, me and my partner went over for 6 days this which is the longest we have gone for. We took both the Lupo and the Polo. We arrived on Wednesday, got everything ready then done a couple a of steady laps in the evening to familiarise ourself with the place again. It definitely didn’t go to plan though, I noticed Tora (my girlfriend) drop off the pace a lot behind me to the point I slowed down so much and she still wasn’t catching so obviously I start to worry, I get to the end of the lap and wait, she finally calls me to say something is seriously wrong with the Polo. She limped it off the track and I noticed immediately the drivers side wheel was toe’ing out a bunch. I got it jacked up to instantly notice the wishbone had snapped in half and was hanging on by the smallest amount of metal. She was very very lucky, she said she was inches from hitting a barrier. The wishbone had rotten from inside out, it visually looked fine. Turns out it is a very common problem with these that I didn’t know about before. So I got on the phone to the Crown Performance and they said they could get a wishbone for first thing in the morning, that arrived and I fitted it then they done a geometry setup on it to get it back to its best. Luckily that was the only issues we had all weekend.
The Lupo was incredible all week, I done around 23 laps in total, without any issues other than a failed oil temp sender unit.
I say it all the time but if you have never been, please make sure it’s on your to do list. Even if you don’t drive the track, the place is just incredible. I’ll leave a load of photos below

Couple of nice little upgrades recently that have made a big difference! The first one is something I’ve wanted to sort for quite some time but never found a solution but after the Prescott hill climb with the tight hairpins I was determined to try find a solution. So with these cars on a 195/50/15 tyre, because they have very little castor from the factory, the tyre catches the rear of the wheel arch on 3/4 lock or more. I found out that the MK4 R32 shares the same front rear wishbone bush as the Lupo GTI, which Whiteline makes a castor bush kit for. So I ordered that up hoping it could be a solution, I removed my wishbones and which already had a Powerflex bush fitted to, rather than removing that and having to press the new Whiteline one in, I used the eccentric centre in the Powerflex bush which worked a treat. Got it all fitted back on to the car and instantly noticed the wheel was 15-20mm forward which has sorted out the issue I was having! Then went and had the alignment checked, I now have around 3.2° castor over the factory 1.5°!
The next upgrade is a Polyurethane gearbox mount to match the already upgraded engine side. I’ve been waiting for someone to make this for a long time now and a good friend in Germany has provided the goods. The factory bush is 50 shore vs this is 80 shore so a good chunk stiffer. I was worried at first that it may be a bit to harsh but it wasn’t! There is obviously a bit more vibrations on idle but I can live with that for the extra benefits it gives. Gear changes are sooo much crisper and on/off throttle accelerations feels crisper with no engine swing.
I want this Polyurethane gearbox mount as I can't get the normal gearbox mount. Where can I buy it? This is one of those things I've wanted to do for a while, since fitting the ompracing strut brace, getting the cap off the expansion tank isn't possible so after seeing how small they are on the MK8 Golf Hybrid I had an idea! Looks so much better, more like the size a Lupo one should be haha!
What is the part number for this tank?LUPO JPN said:

I’m interested in the pic too…more so the DIS unit that generates the spark to plugs. I’ve recently had to replace mine on my 2000 Polo Gti due to overheating ( info on here under Vw heading) and the replacement is showing a skin temperature during operation of 58deg C. I’ve been running car for a couple of weeks and all ok but on seeing your car has a very similar set up wondered if you knew what temp your DIS operates at? . Only interested as my head can’t get around a bit of electronics that runs so hot….never checked the old one as it never showed any problem until it started smoking!..probably due to it being 23 years old….regards.
