Sadly now up for sale (on PH - am I allowed to say that?). Very keen to see this go to a good home, so get in touch if you want to take a look.

It does scrub up well, mind.

Thanks - you know how it is when you put off doing somethign for so long it becomes a real issue? That's how this feels...

Appreciate all the notes of encouragement over the years. There are always times (I'm looking at you, 'raising the engine to get the alternator out' job) when it can be a pain but the car always rewarded us with a a reliable, comfortable few 1000 miles afterwards.

Are you going to try to push past 200k miles in the last few days before the ULEZ expansion? Seems a shame not to see that after you’ve had her so long.

Seems crazy that to avoid Sadiq’s not very subtle money grab, you’ve had to get a petrol V8, which must do, what, a quarter of the MPG of the CDTi?!

That is a shame it’s just barely shy of the 200k marker, so close! Hope it’s easy to sell, though. Looks to be a very desirable combo.

Its a shame but to be honest we didnt think we would be near 200k by the time we sold it. Its still in use - you never know, it may not sell till 2045 and itll be exempt by then.

It always strikes me how I get attached to some cars. Even now when i think back I get very nostalgic for some.

I "tried" to sell mine earlier this year... I bought a 4.2 XJ8 as the replacement, fully prepared my 75 for sale, but never really got round to taking the photographs. It was always too cold and wet, or the car was dirty, or I was busy... I kept making up excuses not to sell it. Meanwhile, I found myself using it just as much, the replacement XJ only really being used once a week, purely to avoid battery drain.

After six months my wife noticed, so I finally went outside, turned the hosepipe on, washed and took photos, and put the Jaguar up for sale. 75 remains firmly in the family, and can now say that it outlasted its own replacement.

While it's sad to see your 75 go, at least the spirit of your green estate lives on in V8 guise.

Sold, to a friend of the owner of the blue 75 tourer featured last year on this thread!

The friend had been indoctrinated over the past 12 months of proxitmity and is clearly goign to give it a loving & safe retirement in the countryside.

Very sad to see it go, but happy to see it go to the right owner, who I will luckily be keeping in contact with and want to have a day to go through a service in in November. Last photo includes the return of said blue Tourer.

Nine years, three house moves, one marraige, countless holidays and around 85,000 miles. Thank you, BV05YMY.

Good to hear she’s going to a good home.

These cars do worm their way into our affections. The car you went on honeymoon in, brought your child back from hospital in, went on family holidays in and so on.

I’m usually sad to see a car go, even if it has been a pretty indifferent company car. Even those have taken me to places with happy memories!

On to new and exciting things!

On a side note, while it seems like you go all over the place and do big mileage, only that mileage in 9 years?!

I am just about to click over the 260k mark in my Mondeo, bought end of November 2019 at 182k!

Sad to see it go, but equally glad to see it going to another caring owner - retirement in the countryside!

I’ve enjoyed the journey through the thread, and look forward to similar on the V8 (and others…)

Thanks all - and I forgot to say thanks to everyone who read, commented, helped out, send me DMs over the years on this car - especially those who sent parts and the intel on when other HFF green Tourers were being broken in a scrappy - those leads kept this one on the road!

Ha! Alright maybe its not mega mileage but its not too bad for something not in daily duties!

One final pic from the day before handover - the 75 jumped the 99 (after someone left the interior light on for 2 weeks... ahem) - a nice little image of 'passing the baton'.

As the car had developed a little rumble on power application, I bought a pair of new driveshafts from Tom Force and the new owner has it booked in for September - the least I could do to keep the goodwill going.

Intermittent updates to follow on the ZT-T thread, but thanks again to the PH community and all the ROver knowledgeables over the years!

Thank you for keeping us entertained over the years and I'm glad to hear the old bus is off to a good home. Your threads are amongst the most enjoyable on here and I look forward to future updates on the fleet.

Great message from the new owner today - its ticked over the 200k mark and going strongs - new driveshafts to sort some rumbling, and new tyres ... the new owner is speaking to the right people for to keep it in fine fettle. It went to the right home!

Happy new year! And welcome to the afterparty

Following a fun handover, it was time to whip back to the yard to replace both driveshafts:

Nearside was changed with some jemmying, although hit a roadblock discovering the locknut on the offside had been fastened by Hercules (rumour has it that this is a common issue with the way these alloys vibrate in phase with the thread of the locknut? As suggested by the graveyard of wheels with permanent fixtures found around the garage).

Down 1 locknut key, unequipped and deflated, I returned to my toolbox and sought council with a higher power:

I did begin to question life decisions when our hero arrived hammer in hand. Thankfully, the nut was safely rescued and I was off to a local garage to finish the job. Had this not worked, the previous owner (who henceforth may be referred to as 'the Oracle') shared another great idea, which looked much more fun - I was never worried.

After having replaced both driveshafts successfully (huzzah!), we noted a feint grinding coming from underneath the passenger seat. I'm told this is most likely a wheel baring issue; the story continues with an exciting incentive to meet 'Rover Gandalf' in sunny north Wales. Whispers had me believe such a man could only exist in folklore. Tales of adventure, marvel and wonder to come.

Huge credit to Spinakerr for taking such grand care of this car over the years. Proud to carry the torch from here and looking forward to new adventures. Onward, to 300k!
