Love this, everything about it! The single wing mirror looks perfect, ha it's electric too!? Also the 528 badge on the back missing the i, just perfect. Would love to hear that six sing through a carb if you ever make a video clip. Enjoy!

I'll keep you in mind, although I've stopped counting the money I've spent..

It's not like I could find another once I'd sold it and regretted it! I think this is the only one left in the UK

Cheers. Yeah, single electric mirror - pretty unique I think! This is a changeover year car so has some pre and some post facelift parts.

I'll see if I can sort you a video, exhaust is largely stock other than custom stainless downpipes as these are nla but it certainly sounds carby. Got to love the sound of an M30..

I really like your car OP. Great job.

So much so that I have taken a punt on a green 528i that popped up on carandclassic and was mentioned in a thread somewhere.

It is quite rusty in places (doors mainly) and I haven't had the chance to go over it properly and formulate a plan for works. But even if it ends up costing me more than I have budgeted ( a near certainty) I hope I get it looking as smart as yours.

I drove it 110 miles home without too much bother though the engine cooling seemed inadequate and it needs a clutch.

It is just such a clean shape after looking for a 2002 for a couple of years I think the E12 is much more my cup of tea

A bit offtopic, but I've always wondered how interchangeable are E12 body panels with E28, if there are any? And are they the same platform at all. Thanks

There’s quite a few differences under the skin - front suspension is quite different for one. E28 doors will fit an e12 though

Interestingly contemporary 6 series was initially an e12 under the skin, then later in life changed to an e28

Lovely car though - I think the e12 is one of the best looking BMW saloons ever made

Thanks very much, guys.

The only panels the same are the doors and roof pressing. Front doors still need modification to the window frames in order to swap them over.

The paint from the respray started falling off in big sheets. A long story that I don't particularly want to revisit..

Anyhow - I've recently got some pictures from the bodyshop, it's been in a year so it's about time!

Excellent. Looking forward to seeing it back on the road, and possibly C&M in the coming months? cool
