You could always invite the Fiesta boys to join you at a track meet, put their money where their mouth is so to speak.
Can't see a problem with that, unless of course there their mums need the car back for the weekly shop. Greendubber said:

Nice car OP, with some choice mods. Bet it's fun
Been pondering for a while now on the need for FI in my 86, I suppose the only reason I got a boosted GT86 was due to the fact that I was getting frustrated when people wouldn't move over on the straights during track days, despite me catching them corners. But I always enjoyed the car in N/A form.
I've had a good offer for most of my running gear, so if that all goes through I'll probably be back to N/A before PHSS Silverstone. If not, I'll see if I can beat my 1:07 from last time out! (If the weather holds!). Then I'll see what strikes in terms of wanting more speed on track, suppose my driving could do with a fair bit of improvement before I think about wacking some boost on the car again.

Not an obvious choice of track car given the standard engines are known to be fragile & somewhat down on power for the application.....
This ones actually turbocharged, pushing out about 400hp. However that being said, I have a stock Subaru BRZ that I've taken on 6 track days on road tyres and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had to let somebody by because they're faster. All this lark about them having not enough power is because most people can't actually drive fast! I just bought this 86 because it makes it easier to overtake M3's that don't like to get out of the way on the straights
There are also countless people running decently engineered forced induction kits around the 280hp-300hp mark on standard internals, tracking without issue.
I dare say you've been misinformed

Fragile? I've seen no evidence.
Mine seized due to (we think) blocked galleries, which was a manufacturing fault but not what I'd call fragile. Toyota GB replaced short engine FOC anyway.
Go on youtube and look at MRT's vids on these engines, a reknown subaru tuner in Oz, even one doing a comparison between a WRX's FA20 and a BRZ's FA20, shows you the weaknesses of the engines and how far you can take them safely Mine seized due to (we think) blocked galleries, which was a manufacturing fault but not what I'd call fragile. So, unfortunately the gentleman that wanted to buy my 86's running gear has since decided to go another way with his project.
So the plan is back to finishing mine off in all it's excessive glory. I guess it is a track car after all
Engine is currently being bored out by 0.5mm to clear some slightly larger pistons, also going to pick up a Cosworth sump baffle to avoid any oiling issues. Then a shakedown at the rescheduled PHSS Silverstone event!
So I suppose my list for the next few months is:
New AP 6pot Brakes up front with 355mmx32mm discs, really need the heat management a bigger/wider disc can provide.
Possibly a change in Turbo kit, certainly needs a new round of mapping.
Needs some interior thrown back in so ice doesn't keep forming on the inside of the bloody windshield!
After all that and a few more track days, I'm sure the car and my driving will present some areas to improve!

Lol for that "fragile FA20" comment. People think that you can have 400hp easily out of 2.0 motor, which isn't true at all. I know several 400hp-ish 2.0 four pot engines which did went bang in the end. That is tuner's life for sure. I know that you can have like 350hp out of VAG 2.0 with simple mods, but that is far cry from 400hp. And that engine still has some longevity problems. So, i would say that FA20 is one of the best small tuner engines at the moment. You can have nice N/A power or you can go FI route. And it can take a lot of beating.
Anyway, this is nice car. Function, beautiful and bad ass. Hope that your engine rebuild goes well. Nice and shiny new parts
