Brilliant cars, had mine two years and now up to 140k. Just sailed through another mot.
Managed to get mine stuck at the top of the north Pennines a few weeks back in the snow for the first time. Three foot snowdrift at the top of Teesdale that I couldn’t see due to drifting snow. 5 mins with a spade and winter mode engaged and we were off again.

I did my normal number plate thing this week. Can't stand flags, borders or any form of writing/slogan on them. Nice clean plates fitted.

It looks very nice. I was all set on buying a V70/XC70 then a clean looking Forester popped up I did my normal number plate thing this week. Can't stand flags, borders or any form of writing/slogan on them. Nice clean plates fitted.

I'm 6 weeks into Volvo ownership and I've done a few bits to the car since my last update. Namely new wiper blades all round and replaced the wing mirror glass on both sides as it had the horrible cheap replacement stuff that didn't actually fit correctly. It also had an MOT yesterday which it passed with only a few minor issues (couple of bushes and a nail in the newly fitted tyres!). I've been using it quite a bit and its just ticked over 143k, meaning about 1100 in the last 6 weeks or so and its been faultless. Quite a bit of commuting and a couple of longer runs in all sorts of weather and its averaging 30mpg, which is only 1mpg less than the OBC.
We even got treated to a dusting of snow down here in the New Forest meaning I got to try out my winter tyres climbing a snowy bank this morning. The forecast suggest quite a significant (for the South) amount tomorrow so looking forward to that.
Snapped this early this morning at -6, currently loving the heated seats.
Up next will be trying to get the sat nav working (I purchased a replacement disc but i think the laser is dirty) and probably a change of front and rear engine mounts as I think they need replacing due to age.

Love these old buses... my 2007D5 is still going strong on 235k, bit creaky but absolutely the most comfortable car I’ve owned, and does bark nicely when given the chance.
33mpg for the auto is pretty normal for me, not many long trips.
Just another 3k miles for you and it'll have been to the Moon..!! Mine's also a bit creaky but otherwise spot on and everything still works. Might be a keeper this one.33mpg for the auto is pretty normal for me, not many long trips.
Agreed, mine has been brilliant in the snow and ice no doubt assisted by the M&S tyres.
I took the opportunity on a deserted and untreated side road to see if the 4x4 system was working correctly as I'm sure I was just pootling about on fwd only, and was very pleasantly surprised at just how much grip and push the rear wheel provide once the fronts start to slide/ spin.
Cheers,
Tony

Been great fun in the snow when I've been allowed it. Had to take her Z4 to work today as she wanted the Ovlov.
Been looking to change for the last 7 or 8 months but I keep coming back to the decision that it's a good car, paid for, and will go and go.
My only temptation now is a newer 04/05 oil burner over my 2001 petrol.
I do minimal miles so the MPG isn't much of an issue but I don't think petrol really suits it and the other thing is no selector for gearing.
Prob cost me double what the car is worth for basically the same car.

Really? Most of my Volvos have been petrol and I much prefer them. The 5 pot petrol engine is great.By gearing selector, do you mean a 'manual' auto? If so, they come in that flavour too.

Ah ok. I'll maybe get a test sooner rather than later and put my mind at rest. By gearing selector, do you mean a 'manual' auto? If so, they come in that flavour too.
My car has the auto selector with options of L, 3 & 4.
I am unable to + or - like in later cars.
Maybe its a combination if the two as the car seems to be underpowered for its weight and in too high a gear.
Its not a failure, its simply set up for motorway cruising but id like a bit more control over the box.

These cars look good in the snow, don’t they?! My V70 has been faultless over the past few days - not been stuck & got everywhere I’ve needed to.
Absolutely... my s60 on winters has not got stuck once in the “beast from the East” assault on Kent. Unfortunately my journeys classify as “necessary”... luckily it was built for such eventualities.Greatest commuter ever
