The top up bag sticks nicely to the carpet with some velcro on the backside. Looks quite tidy tucked away on the R/H side of the boot. There is also a see through flap on the backside to store bits of paper in?

All is not good however, the car recently has decided that after turning it off the car will not start again unless it is left overnight and no attempts have been made to start it since turning it off.
This meant the battery left me stranded, had to go and buy a new battery today at the trade price of £96 for a Yuasa 12v 70aH battery with a 5 year guarantee. I believe the BMW battery in the car was original which makes it 15 years old when it finally croaked.
The top up bag is really handy - my Z4 Coupe came with one of those.

You say all not good with your battery, but if it managed 15 years I wouldn't say that was too bad! (Mind you mine seems to have made it a bit longer as it's a 52 plate).

But I needed a bit more practicality, so I bought an E91 325i Touring last Wednesday.

And as a result sadly someone else drove away in my E46 325ti Sport this afternoon - cracking car. I'll miss it!

But yours is looking really good - enjoy! thumbup

Discovered the car has heated washer jets, surprise, they are not working! My passenger mirror heater seems to have packed it in as well. Waiting for it to be a bit dryer before I go pulling it apart to diagnose the problem.

Managed to bag a bcables diagnostics cable w/ diagnostics & coding package for a tenner.
In the meantime i've been having a play around with coding the car with NCSExpert & NCSDummy to activate some features normally only a dealer would be able to activate.

  • Doors now lock above 16km/h (can change the speed at which they lock)
  • Activated double flash hazards - May change back to single flash hazards
  • Enabled the 'Panic Mode' alarm
  • Enabled high beam flashing w/ alarm
  • Enabled low beam flashing w/ alarm
Will get into it a bit deeper at some point to see what else I can activate.
Still looking for an Alpine HU!

Your work on the parcel shelf has certainly paid off - that looks great. thumbup

In terms of headlights, the most popular option on a Z4 forum for those of us without the optional Bi-Xenons are Osram Nightbreakers.

Thanks! Still needs a few more coats of black, unfortunately it feels rather crispy now rather than the fluffy (if you can call it that) texture it had before despite careful application with a sponge. Suppose it doesn't really matter but it would have been nice to retain the original texture.

I have read into the Osram Nightbreakers and phillips supposedly last longer than them. What are your thoughts?

A weighted gen BMW M Sport gearknob works well. Around £56.

A lovely compact you have there, the colour sets it off really well.
The parcel shelf certainly looks better, I may get round to doing mine one day!

Looks nice, I really would like a 325 compact, perhaps when I sell the C32

Wow those lights are bright!! Personally i like the stock lighting especially the orange lights in the interior light that shine down on the gearnob/trays, such a cool idea.

Your interior just needs a steering wheel retrim and it'll be very tidy!

No quite easy, just need a thin enough spanner to get in there & stop the ball joint spinning. May require a bit of grinding down depending on what's already fitted.
Dont even have to take the wheel off if you don't want.
Spray some wd40 or I used aerokroil spray to lubricate the threads.

Bike hub cone spanners work well for front arb links.

Ah cool! If I can do it wheels on then happy days as I have the ARB bushes to do as well so I can just put it on the drive up ramps and do both jobs at once. Thanks for the tip on the bike spanner helix, do you know what size is needed?

I think you need a 17 or 18, I’ll check later.

Haha, i think most people are!

I've been meaning to get one of those 1 liter oil bags, i used to keep an unopened 1 liter bottle laid down under the boot carpet with the tool kit. Until one day i needed to top up and then realised it had emptied itself and the battery box was full up, it had been running out of the battery drain hole and under the car censored

Just a thought, have you popped out the front arch liners and checked the inner lip on the arch for crud build up? i never thought to check mine....going to need new arches at some point now grumpy

You mean this arch? Found it quite a while ago frown

Those look like sanding marks to me, the supposed bumper off respray has extended a bit further past the bumpers..
By chance I came across a tin of 2k base the same colour code at work so have myself a little bottle. Just need clear now to do the arch and the bonnet shut line.

The flat on the arb link will be 17 or 18mm, you can buy a double ended spanner with both sizes.
