The joys.. I've replaced one on mine so far and just bought a new one for the other side so I can forget about them for a while, I went for pagid units from ecp, this latest one is just over £40 once I get the surcharge back.

Those look like sanding marks to me, the supposed bumper off respray has extended a bit further past the bumpers..
By chance I came across a tin of 2k base the same colour code at work so have myself a little bottle. Just need clear now to do the arch and the bonnet shut line.

Wish my wings were that tidy! One has gone past the point of repair so have a new gen wing in the shed, and I noticed the last time i washed it there was a bubble coming through on the pass side.. will probs just get another new wing now. If both of yours are like that then you should be OK for a while!

The bonnet shut line is odd, mine is the same so I guess is just how they are.

No corrosion on the bonnet shut line, just bare metal. looks like its been sand blasted and not sprayed over properly? confused

Same here, my arches have gone from behind.....i wondered why they had bubbled up but had no paint chips, when i took the arch liner out i realised why they had bubbled. Two new wings for me too, although i have been thinking about making wider M3 arches fit laugh

You could get away with just taking that back to bare metal and treating/painting that!

Great thread! I’ve recently picked up an 03 325ti Sport and need to replace the gearknob. Your clubsport one looks fantastic! Can I ask what the part number was and how you went about fitting it?

Nice, what did you get? biggrin
P/N for the 6 speed is 25117896886, i ordered mine through m3cutters from cotswolds bmw for their discount.
Removal of the gearknob is quite simple, grab hold of it and pull up and try not to punch yourself in the head because you will come close to it! curse
Installation is as simple as just pushing the new one on.

It’s a facelift model in silver grey, black leather, 18 inch MV2s refurbed in anthracite grey and 99k on the clock. Managed to pick it up for £1400 and previous owner did the CCV, vanos and DISA seals, new pads and disks all round, brake pipes, water pump, thermostat, clutch and flywheel. Almost nothing left for me to do(!) but will check out the radiator as it doesn’t appear to have been replaced and the oil filter housing gasket. Bad points are the 7 previous owners and the rust on the rear wheel arch - thought these never rust!

Thanks for the P/N, ordered from Cotswolds smile

The radiator in mine started leaking at 82K miles - when it came out it was banana-shaped at the bottom!

If you do change yours you might want to put in a new expansion tank while it's drained - they are prone to splitting.

Still it sounds like you've got a pretty good deal there.

I sold mine in February, and every time I read about them I miss it - brilliant cars!

Done a few jobs since the last update, faffing around with calipers mostly.
The bowed out radiator was finally changed, didn't realise how bad it actually was.
That's what mine looked like after it came out - I was amazed it was only dripping coolant when I saw the state of it!

Blimey, that radiator was bad..... Close one! Good thing you changed it when you did.
The car looks realy nice, the roads are terrible at the moment.... Continuously cleaning my daily.

Looking very good, I realised I've been reading this thread but not chimed in about it.

Think that's a good deal on the fuel cap seal if it lasts properly, they're not just ordinary rubber so the absolute cheapest ones will fall to bits after a few months.

The paint looks stunning, bloody time consuming though isnt it laugh

I don't know why but my Compact done the same with the brake caliper, i put refurbished ones on the same side twice and it still kept getting stuck! I'm no help there ,sorry!

I know what you mean about that little compartment on the drivers side. As soon as i saw the M3 donor had the door on the front i was chuffed to bits laugh

Yeah its not too bad, I haven't actually seen it in the sun since I did it as its all under dirt now, those are some older photos although I thought I caught a glimpse of holograms all over the place which i'm not too happy about mad

Good work on the paint. If you can avoid car washes and crappy sponges then your paint should stay nice for a while.

Am I correct saying your bought the car from Gloucester?

I recognised the guys driveway,, I'd been stalking the car around Gloucester for a little while as i could tell from its cleanliness it was well looked after one.

I'd sold my 5 series and was hunting for a compact for a while, really want facelift with cloth/alcantara. Ended up buying a Civic type r about a week before I saw the advert for your compact!

That looks really tidy.

I dan a 325ti SE for the best part of three years. I loved that car, but I don’t think it was reciprocated! laugh

Every time it went near a garage it seemed to harm my wallet. I dealt with the usual foibles; water pump, thermostat, warmer day rad but it also seemed to have an appetite for suspension components. In the end I got so cheesed off it went. I did some MOT stalking earlier and the last MOT expired three years ago.

That's one for the dirty cars thread, for sure.

I rarely use my 325ti anymore, and keep thinking of selling it. Saying that mine was also just as dirty in the winter months when it wasn't in the garage on the battery charger.

Interesting to see your having an issue on the front right wheel. Funnily enough i have exactly thr same, even though both my calipers have were replaced with new pagid ones! On my last mot they picked up on a twisted brake hose on that side.. which i guess could also cause the issue.

I’ve read about the hoses being an issue as well but on an e87. From memory I think a flap of rubber had come away inside and was acting as a kind of crappy non-return valve; fluid could move to depress the brake but the back pressure would move the flap blocking the hose in the return direction.
Maybe a good excuse for some braided lines?
